Lakers going back down to earth a bit? They are 12-9 now, and currently down 13. Apparently they've also now slipped to the 9th seed in the loaded West. Wowzers

Golden State has also lost 6 straight and are now the 7 seed.

A 41 point beatdown by Miami vs LAL. Demolition.

They should trade for Brogdon. Maybe even Smart. Need a guard who can play defense.

That is why I think Bronny might get a shot at some point. Their guard rotation is so thin. 1-2 injuries and he might get an opening. They are so desperate for guard defense. The only guys that play defense there are Gabe Vincent and Max Christie.

I wouldn't expect Bronny to get playing time elsewhere in the league but LAL have so few guards and such weak backcourt defense that I can see him getting an opportunity at some point this season. A sustained 8-10 game stretch. And how well or badly he plays will determine whether he stays or not.

I saw Tim Legler talking about LeBron having a stretch of 5 out of 6 games where LeBron scored less than 20 points. He had missed 19 straight 3 pointers.

LeBron had 29 the other night against Miami to break the streak. He hit 1 out of 4 threes.

Tim Legler said LeBron doesn't look right. He looks short of energy. So they are wondering if he is finally starting to run out of gas. Also that he has lost his explosiveness from the start of the year which sounds more like he is carrying a knock than aging but we will see.

It will be interesting to see how he does moving forward.

He can still ball as a support player, the second or third option on the team. But AD needs to take the lead consistently and efficiently.

Despite the chronic injuries, combined with Williamson's unique contract structure, the Pelicans have no intention of waiving Williamson this offseason. New Orleans could get out of Williamson's contract with somewhere between $0 and $7.9 million owed, depending on the forward meeting weight clauses in the contract.

I can't believe folks are even talking about this. This is from Shams. That is even a question is hard to fathom. He is such a talent. I guess folks are reaching the end of their patience with Zion's injuries.

The New Orleans Pelicans are 4-18 and mired in a nine-game losing streak. That's gone hand in hand with Zion Williamson being out since November 6.

Are they out of the playoff mix already?

14 games under .500. Hard to see them coming back from that.

What a shame. It is such a talented roster with Zion, B Ingram, Dejounte Murray, CJ McCollum. Top players in Trey Murphy III, Herbo Jones. Good role players in Alvarado, Jordan Hawkins.

Shams also said that Zion is nowhere close to returning.

Keeping it classy!

Houston Rockets coach Ime Udoka was fined $50,000 by the NBA for his actions during Tuesday's loss to the Sacramento Kings in an NBA Cup game.

Udoka was docked for confronting and directing profane language toward a game official, failing to leave the court in a timely manner after being ejected, and public criticism of the officiating.

Udoka wasn't alone, as Rockets forward Tari Eason was fined $35,000 by the NBA for tossing a towel and using inappropriate language in the direction of a fan after the game. Also, Alperen Sengun was fined $15,000 by the league after directing inappropriate language toward a game official.

Udoka and Sengun were both assessed technical fouls and ejected with 1:52 remaining in Tuesday's game.

As third-year Rockets forward Tari Eason left the court and walked through the tunnel near the visitor?s locker room, he heard a heckle from a nearby fan and threw his towel in response while yelling obscenities toward the fan. Eason then attempted to enter the stands, running up the ramp that leads to the lower concourse at Golden 1 Center and nearly reaching the fan section when nearby security officials were able to hold him back. Eason, who was held from behind by one official and from the front by another who jumped over a nearby railing to impede his path, relented after a few moments and headed for the locker room.

At some point you have to blame the performance on the court on the players on the court. Every loss is not the coach's fault and every win isn't because of the players.

Is Zion worth anything in trade?
Maybe?.they should do a mini blow up and tank for the MaineFlagg. Collect some assets, maybe some young players, maybe a veteran big man or two. Build around Murray, Flagg, TreyIII, pick up some more defense pieces.

It?s really a shame how injury prone Zion is. He?s one of the most talented players in the league. As a rookie he averaged 23pts/6rebs/2ast and shot 58% from the field. Second year he was at 27pts/7rebs/4ast with a 61% FG.

This is what Jrue Holiday had to say about him a few days ago.

I think Zion is one of the most gifted players I?ve ever seen. Athletic ability, how he can get to the rim by people, and I feel like sometimes it?s about fit, and maybe I don?t know if they have to adjust the fit to him down there or maybe slide out and have a different fit with somebody else. But I feel like he needs a change in some kind of way because he is promising, bro.

At least when I had him as a rookie, it was amazing. That?s just what he was capable of. They talk about the weight gain and doing all that, but I?ve seen him at 280, 290 still above the rim...

For one, for him, I?d have him play a little more defense. That?s not a knock on him. I think that would make him the talent that he is. It would elevate his game. Offensively I think he?s got it. I think he does what he?s supposed to do. I think his play for other people is that he gets to the rim and gets to the free-throw line, but I think for me, if he challenged himself defensively and his teammates saw that, I feel like they would follow.

I don't understand why NY are struggling so much.

Struggling again tonight to put away a Charlotte team that is missing their franchise guy in LaMelo Ball.

Update: Well, the Knicks followed that up with a 21-4 run in less than 4 minutes. Tight game turned into a blowout in 3 and a half minutes.

That would be amazing for them. Cooper Flagg as the replacement for Zion. Trade Zion for a center. Even a middle of the pack starting center. That new look Pelicans team would be a title contender.

G: D Murray, Alvarado
G: CJ McCollum, J Hawkins
F: B Ingram, Herb Jones
F: C Flagg, Trey Murphy III
C: (center from Zion trade), Y Missi

That would be a super-fun team. Flagg would be a better fit than Zion. A defensive forward. That would be ideal for that team. They have guys who can create offense in Ingram, McCollum, Dejounte Murray. Ingram as the main piece. Than 3 supporting creators in McCollum, Murray & Flagg. Great role players / supporting cast.

I think NOP can be a contender but only if Zion Williamson plays like the star he once projected to be.  Ingram and McCollum aren't good enough to be the primary stars, but I think they are good enough to be the complementary stars.  The problem isn't them, the problem is that Zion is looking less and less likely to ever be the star he projected to be.

I recall seeing flashes from Zion over the years where he showed what all the hype was about.  But he has never been able to sustain it for more than weeks or months here and there, certainly not a whole season.

It is a tough call for NOP.  They see Zion every day so have a lot more information than us fans, but how long do you keep waiting for him, keep paying him to not play.  He is only 24 but I think I would punt on him at the point.  Cut your losses.  Try to trade him, maybe the Lakers or someone would bite, if not, cut him loose and rebuild.  Maybe trade one of Ingram or McCollum too.

With over 500,000 jerseys sold at roughly $100 a pop, Bronny has helped generate more than $50 million in revenue for the Lakers - setting an NBA record by surpassing even his father's rookie jersey sales. Not bad for a player who's barely made an impact in actual games.

I'm pretty sure that Wright is off on the "$50 million in revenue for the Lakers part"; they certainly don't recoup 100% of every jersey sold.  But still, that's a staggering amount for a guy who can't play.  I can't believe there are 500k fans who want to be seen repping that nepo baby.
