In 31 mins of play tonight, Elfrid Payton had 21 assists for the Pelicans. Haven?t seen a 20+ assist game in a while.

Crazy. They just picked him up as a FA recently due to an injury crisis and the guy comes in with 14pts 21ast 7reb.

Scoot Henderson = 11.3ppg 5.2apg in 26mpg.

Not bad basic production but his shooting numbers are terrible. 40% FG% 28% 3PT%. 49.5% TS%. About the same as his rookie season.

He is also averaging 3.2 turnovers per game. A huge number for only 26mpg. The 5 assists in 26 minutes is good but 5.2 assists to 3.2 turnovers is bad for a PG. A 1.5:1.0 AST:TOV.

Disappointing start to his 2nd season. Very little progress.

I hope I?m wrong but it?s seeming more and more likely that Scoot is just Dennis Smith Jr. 2.0. It?s pretty clear the Blazers should have taken Miller with the 2nd overall pick even though Scoot was the obvious choice at the time.

Kind of odd when you consider that they beat the heavily favored Celtics.  If they were tanking the game, they didn't do it very well.

Scoot is only 20, so he?s still really young. Shooting stroke doesn?t look bad, so I expect him to improve his percentages. One thing I will say is he?s not as explosive as I thought he?d be, but does still have good size for a PG at 6?3?/ 200lbs.

Also, regarding that draft, Charlotte took Brandon Miller at #2, Scoot went #3. Brandon is a beast. Many compare him to a young Paul George.

At some point you have to blame the performance on the court on the players on the court. Every loss is not the coach's fault and every win isn't because of the players.

All I kept saying before the draft was Scoot can't shoot.

It?s not even midway in the 2nd quarter and Spo has played 10 guys already. What do you make of this team? Seems like Spo has not settled on a regular rotation yet. Rozier seems like a bad fit as he needs the ball in his hands in order to create and score. It?s certainly looking like it was just a panic trade they had to make in order to soften the blow of not getting Dame. They?re not doing bad at 7-7 but they?re certainly not a contender. Is it time to trade Jimmy and Bam and go on a total rebuild?

Don't look now but the Bucks are officially a .500 team again.

And they're quietly gaining steam, could pose some eventual danger later on

I wonder if Will Hardy is going to be in the hot seat soon. They have a decent starting 5 with George, Sexton, Collins, Markanen, and Kessler. Should have more than 4 wins.

The Lakers look legit. Knecht was a home run draft pick and have to admit, Reddick has done pretty well for them to start.

I would probably still pick MIN/OKC/DEN (assuming health) in a series against them but LAL is definitely a Top-3 or 4 team in the West. Lebron still looks like a beast and of course, if AD can stay relatively healthy that's not an easy team to face

The Lakers have a very pedestrian +1.3 point differential, and have played a bottom 5 schedule so far.  You win the games you win, but I would not expect the Lakers to win much more than half their remaining games.  45-46 wins seems about right.  Play-in team yet again.

One week later and three games against good teams, and the Lakers are quickly on the play-in line with a negative point differential.  Didn?t take long.

Suns/Celtics NBA Finals perhaps?

Suns look surprisingly hot when their Big 3 is healthy

Yeah, it is shocking. They finally found something that works and their first decision is to tear it down.

They do not look like a title contender anymore.

I think it was a smart deal if they weren?t from Minnesota. It?s a little harder to get a star to go play there than other places I think.
If there was a rule change allowing handchecking they?d be a powerhouse. Holding on the perimeter is how they beat Denver.
