I just watched a segment with Channing Frye where he talks about how we don't appreciate the talent of today's stars because we're blinded by nostalgia for bygone eras.
I don't necessarily believe that it's nostalgia, specifically, that drives the hyper-negative flavor of the discourse around today's league. But SOMETHING drives that negativity, and I'm glad that one of these talking heads is finally speaking up against it. It's better than hearing these guys on ESPN or TNT crap on today's players and teams.
Guys like Jokic, Giannis, SGA, Tatum, Luka are brilliant at this game. They should be celebrated while they're here, televised and showcased as often as possible. Instead what do we hear? Jokic can't defend. Giannis can't shoot. SGA's nickname is FTA. Tatum has no aura (whatever that even means). Luka is fat.
It's sad.
