RIP they throwing in Drake Maye. Hope he don't get busted up with our sad excuse of an o-line/survive the last 4 minutes of the game.

Think he only got sacked 3 times. In 3 mins of play.  :-X

The Pats aren't just bad. They're unwatchable.

The offense is impossibly bad. Brissett must have had no idea what he was walking into here. We're going to have to build through the draft. No free agent of any value is going to want to come here.

Our offensive line, same as it has been the past few years:

They have had one really good game (CIN), one OK game (SEA) and now one horrible game (NYJ).  I am hoping that the real Pats are closer to what we saw in the SEA game.  My expectations were low before the CIN game.  That game may have been fool's gold for a lot of us.

These guys suck.  They most likely need to bottom out.  And Kraft needs to spend this coming offseason. I'm sorry but the front office mangled last offseason.

Its becoming more & more apparent that Kraft rode the coattails of Brady & Belichick and is just another owner who wants the adulation for something others were responsible for.  I'm been off him since he left Brady out to dry during the Deflategate bs.

I came back to Boston last night, and part of the layover was at LGA New York. We even flew around Citi Field and MetLife (saw glimpses of their scoreboard) along the route to NY lol.

Now for the game itself, yeah I'm not mad I had to miss a good chunk of it.

U-G-L-Y

Don't get me wrong, the defense was awful too and had a lot of missed tackles, but I fear this is just like the last few years where the defense gets tired easily or struggles because even when they get a stop or force a turnover, the offense gives it right back to the opponent 2 minutes later.

O-Line is GARBAGE. QB play is really mediocre. Honestly I'm surprised more of these teams don't just straight up blitz the Pats every down. It'll work. We don't have a dynamite #1 WR either. Henry feels like the only "threat" we have. I hoped Polk and Douglas could emerge as that but they haven't. It's not all their fault either, Brissett just can't find them all the time nor does he have the time due to the pressures.

I thought it was time to move on from Belichick, and still do. But I will say, the more we see things unfold, the more you wonder if Kraft sort of meddled in front office operations more than we think. Btw, we still have 50M in cap space, and our O-Line is atrocious. No #1 WR either. Inexcusable.

And it's only 3 games, but in two of them our defense hasn't looked as good. I get the Judon trade and other injuries, but idk, maybe the defense actually played a lot better for Belichick than Mayo so far? The offense and some of the coaching decisions was mostly Belichick but again, maybe Belichick and Mayo and Wolf actually couldn't hire a real offensive coordinator because they'd cost a lot of money for the Krafts? AVP, Patricia, Judge, etc. were all getting paid by their previous teams.

I'll also add, it's become common knowledge that BB didn't want Mac, but Kraft forced him to take a QB that draft so they took Mac Jones at #15.

All this stuff starts to make you think.

This can't at all be a surprise to anybody. It was awesome winning that first game and it looked like we might get that 2nd one; but games like last night are going to happen. It's not like we were suddenly going to be contenders with Brissett running the show with no offensive line and no real WR threats.

It's fine to be upset that what we thought would happen is actually coming to fruition, but this isn't like if the Celtics went out this next year and totally got blitzed. We all knew we were going to be horrible going in. Hopefully we aren't bottom dwellers for years and we at least get back to respectable territory again.

I completely agree. After the second game everyone was acting surprised that we couldn't win but I thought there was a moral victory almost winning. I thought the defense played really hard and offense moved the ball barely enough to almost win.

Last night is what I was expecting. The defense couldn't compete against a more accurate QB that can keep the drive going. The offense was pretty terrible and getting down early will always affect the offense since we won't be able to run the ball as well. There were a few throws that, if we had a more accurate QB, they'd be nice plays but overall, the energy was low. Maybe the quick turnaround effected our team or other teams are getting enough footage to counter the limited things we do well, but I do expect the Patriots to have more bad games then good ones.

This is pretty much what I expected for this season, but it stinks that they actually won their first game?on the road against a good team, no less?and thus gave us a shred of false hope.

The offensive line is an absolute nightmare, a complete dumpster fire, and there's no excuse for it. The team had gobs of money available (still does) and did nothing to address its biggest need. I'm fine with Brissett getting bulldozed, because he's nothing but journeyman filler, a placeholder; I don't like seeing Maye get thrown to the wolves.

I think one more poor week from the team and Brissett (and it seems likely, it's the Niners lol), and we could see Maye as early as Week 5 against the Dolphins and Skylar Thompson. And in theory it's a good spot for Maye because the opponent is Skylar Thompson and at home.

The fact that they bought Maye into last night's game to me is actually a bit telling. I don't think they do that unless they think "okay we need to get his feet wet a bit and see what he can do on this drive". They aren't stupid, they know the public perceptions. If they wanted to really shelve Maye most if not all of the season they would be fine just having Brissett out there handing it off to the very end of the game, or just punting it away.

I know the fear of putting Maye behind this O-Line, but at the same time there's no guarantee our O-Line will even be good in 2025, and in the NFL you will get sacked or have to take hits. So if the O-Line is bad next year does that mean sit Maye for another year?

Maye did not look ready for NFL speed.  He was slow to read the field at times even in college against ACC opposition.  Now he's jumping to the highest level behind an OL that will not help smooth his transition.

Nah just let Brissett survive for as long as he can this year.  It's a bridge/tank year anyway.  It seems predictable that he'll break down at some point, and then it'll be Maye's turn.  In the meantime get him as many practice reps as he can handle.  I'm admittedly not super high on the kid but hopefully we can speed up that processor somehow.

And if Maye fails then we use our 2025 first round pick on another QB but this time at #1 🤣
