What I took from the game was that Gino Smith was much better than Jacoby Brissett. Make of that what you may. They were able to make plays on our defense. People were getting open, plays were being made, they were moving the ball.
In our case, we are still the epitome of plain vanilla on offense. I don't think they dare to try anything complicated because:
1. They don't trust the O Line
2. They recognize the limitations of Brissett
3. Our receivers are young and things need to be kept fairly simple for them
We are probably lucky to be 1 - 1. CIN turned the ball over for us, SEA didn't. We have been great regarding turnovers, we are not beating ourselves. But simply not losing only goes so far. At some point, you need to be able to create a win, make some things happen.
Brissett has been a big improvement over Mac Jones so far, at least he is not hurting the team. But he is not really making plays either, which isn't entirely his fault. I can be patient. I was not expecting anything different.
