South Sudan out of the next stage by 2 points on differential. Stinks for them but proud of the African brothers. Apparently there?s not a single indoor court in the country. Props to them, Luol Deng for investing in the program and Royal Ivey for getting them to play hard with a purpose.

Team USA faces Brazil at 3:30pm today. Looks like Australia is taking it to Serbia in the first half. Canada vs France is on next.

I don't know why but I just do not find this Canadian team likable. Dull.

Maybe it is the no big man play. Other than Olynyk who doesn't play enough for my liking. Birch & D Powell are nowhere near as good as Olynyk. They are much better when Olynyk is on the floor. Yet they minimize his minutes.

Maybe it is the Shai effect. Reminding me of Michael Jordan. Those red Canadian jerseys reminding of the Bulls. After so many years of rooting against MJ & the Bulls, that old instinct kicks in when I see Shai & Canada.

Lessort with a couple of nice drives.

In an earlier game they said the NY Knicks own his draft rights. He was First Team All-Euroleague so I imagine he is earning a lot in Europe. Might be someone they look to bring over next year or the year after to fix their backup center issues.

France's current lineup

G: Ntilikina = defensive combo guard
G: Cordinier = defensive wing
F: Batum = defensive forward
F: Yabu = offensive forward
C: Lessort = defensive big

Only one offensive orientated player. Nobody who can create well one-on-one. Scrappy lineup. Four hustle players and one good but unexceptional offensive player.

Canada making a run here against it with Shai heating up.

It is miserable watching Shai over-dribble the basketball. No teamwork. Just individualism. Everything from 25 feet out. Just like young Jordan.
