I wonder how Tatum feels playing for Team USA in comparison to Celtics. With Celtics, through years, hard work and sacrifice, they built a team that won a championship. Now he has all these other players with high egos, politics involving playing time (need to play certain players to make them happy) and lack of cohesion. Hopefully it makes him appreciate what they?ve built with the C?s even more.
I wouldn?t overthink it. He?s fine lol. The reason he isn?t getting minutes is because it is the last hurrah for Lebron/KD/Curry. He?s going to be playing starter minutes the next Olympics.

De Colo and Fournier are too old and too slow for France. They used to be their best perimeter creators on offense but neither is giving much shot creation or playmaking. They don't have the foot-speed anymore.

Even Batum, he is their 3rd creator, he is too old too. He has only provided some creativity when he has played PF minutes but France can't play him there because their 3 best players are all big men and their 4th big is one of their better players too. Batum needs to play SF. He isn't much of an offensive threat.

France is getting so little from these guys and their new guard aren't up to replacing them. Ntilkina is limited offensively. Coulibaly has the odd flash but is mostly peripheral on offense. Strazel is more bad than good on offense. All these guys are good defenders & athletes but low skill players.

France isn't getting enough from their perimeter guys.

So Jrue Holiday has an ankle injury and Team USA is playing a bunch of stiffs. Maybe it's a good thing Jaylen didn't make the team?

I don't care about the Celtics playing against South Sudan, Australia, or Germany. Keep our guys healthy so we can win another championship.
The only real mistake is the one from which we learn nothing.

Yup that will really suck if Jrue was sacrificed for no gold medal.

If KP was healthy, I couldn?t have watched his team KNOWING he was unlikely to escape unscathed.

I'm sorry if this comes off as overly negative, but..... the U.S. doesn't have competition this year. It would be easier to get into this team if they had a chance of losing a game.

Team USA will be favorites, but to say they have no competition is a little much. I mean, Team Canada has a bunch of NBA players including: Jamal Murray, Shai Gilgeous-Alexander, Dillon Brooks, RJ Barrett, Kelly Olynyk, Luguentz Dort, Trey Lyles, Dwight Powell. If they get hot from 3pt they absolutely could beat Team USA.

At some point you have to blame the performance on the court on the players on the court. Every loss is not the coach's fault and every win isn't because of the players.

If things go right for one team and things don't work out for the US, then yes, they can lose. Much like the Celtics could have lost a playoff series to the Miami Heat this year.

I'd rather see college kids out there working hard. The games would be better. Then again, I guess I'm not resolute on the US winning gold. In my opinion, this current system stinks. I think the NBA Cup is more compelling.

Better bubble-wrap him for the Celtics season and give him load management. He was a key player to winning Banner 18 and will be a key player to win Banner 19.

That's my problem with having Celtics players participating in the Olympics or non-NBA related tournaments/events...injuries. Paul George for example, and another one was Kemba Walker in the ASG.

Haha, strange shot by D Brooks for Canada. Almost like he lost the ball on his three point shot and ended up with a one handed push shot. Too wide open.

Canada vs Spain. Two solid teams.

Spain

G: Llull
G: Abrines
F: Rudy Fernandez
F: Aldama, U Garuba, J Hernangomez
C: W Hernangomez

These are some of the NBA or former NBA guys on the team.

Other players

G: Lorenzo Brown, Alberto Diaz, Dario Brizuela
F: Jaime Padilla, Xabier Lopez-Arostegui

They are using Garuba as their backup center rather than as forward. Aldama is at forward despite being 7 feet and Garuba 6 foot 8. Garuba has muscle though and interior hustle. Aldama a finesse player. Aldama does not look good on offense. He is trying to play like a skilled forward who can shoot off of movement instead of the stand-still shots he takes in the NBA. Does not look convincing taking those shots. Looks off.

G: Lorenzo Brown, Alberto Diaz, Dario Brizuela
G: Abrines, Llull
F: Xabier Lopez-Arostegui, Rudy Fernandez
F: Aldama, J Hernangomez, Jaime Padilla
C: W Hernangomez, U Garuba

Alberto Diaz does not look a convincing ball-handler. High loose dribble. Looks vulnerable to ball pressure. Canada could get him with aggressive defense.

I don't think the college kids are good enough to compete anymore because of all the one-and-dones and all the other underclassmen. I think they would rarely to never be able to put a team on the floor that is capable of winning.

If guys were still playing 4yr college careers, I'd be open to it.

I look at the soccer side of the Olympics and they use that as an U-23 tournament. All players 23 years old or younger. I think they have 3 veteran players they can upon to help out. That is an interesting system and designed to stop soccer players from being overworked from an extra International tournament. Much like the concern of US NBA players being overworked.

I would like to see an under 25 team for the US. Use NBA players but only guys under 25. Guys in the early phase of their career. Establishing themselves as stars. They could put out strong teams that can win gold medals. They can give a wider number of guys opportunities to represent their country like the old NCAA system used to do (which was exciting).

Nembhard killing Spain in the Q4 with dribble penetration. He knows they have no quality rim protector in there with Garuba at center. He is driving for layups or driving, collapsing the D and kicking out.

Nembhard taking over the game and leading Canada back into the lead after Spain made a run to close the score.

Canada now bringing their starters back in midway Q4.

Wow, Cabolco had 33pts and 18reb for Brazil in 20pt win over Japan earlier today.

That should do it. Clutch 3 by RJ Barrett after a nervy finish from both teams.

Brizuela was huge for Spain in Q4.
