That's a TON to give up for Bridges, who, while a nice player, is not exactly the star level talent they need. They're a good two-way team, but I still don't think they can beat Boston. Still also think they're lacking in sufficient top-end talent to truly compete.

Also, does this mean they're not going to be able to retain OG now, too, or lose Randle?

I admit I am not super up to date on the value of other team's players, but man that seems like way too much for Bridges.  Great deal for a Nets team that is trying to start over.

Horrible franchise destroying trade for Knicks. Nets might have just erased the fleecing we did to them.

Man, that's a heavy price for Bridges.  I like the guy but not THAT much.

Can they keep both OG and Hartenstein?  They'd better.

Knicks fans going overboard already.

Yup these two guys aren't anything to worry about, they just win titles.

The Nets learned firsthand how to expedite a rebuild, and it looks like they will pull out all the stops to tank and get a silly amount of lottery picks.

How much do people think Hartenstein is going to get?  He isn't that good.

My Laker friend said "Knicks about to clean out the Celtics easy next year. Enjoy banner 18 now"

That Villanova lineup good for a 2nd-round exit  ;D Probably won't even make it out the first-round with how Thibs running his players to the ground playing them 100 mins per game

I haven't taken a quick look, but I think they can.

It'll be interesting to see how the Knicks do - I think it's better for the atmosphere of the NBA in general when all of the big market/legacy teams are somewhat competitive.

Saw this pretty good write up on Twitter from HOU writer Ben DuBose.

This #Rockets trade is not made for short Twitter posts, but I'm gonna try and explain the thinking here:

? Think of it as a 3-team deal. The Nets moving Bridges to Knicks was contingent on getting their next two picks back. Otherwise, they were gonna try and mediocrity treadmill, thereby limiting value of the 2025 and 2026 picks to some extent.

? The 2027 BKN swap is actually more valuable now, since Nets are entering a rebuild and should be quite young.

? At some point, there are only so many young players you can play. Houston has 6 young-core guys and will add a 7th this week. There's a point of diminishing returns.

? Yes, they understand the 2025 and 2026 BKN assets are in line to potentially be good. That's why they're getting 4 FRP assets while giving up 2.

? No, this isn't "you gave up Cooper Flagg." See above Bridges considerations, plus remember #PrayForVictor. Odds are quite different these days.

? There are two timelines/scenarios to consider. The ideal scenario is that Jalen and/or Sengun take the next step this season and you're able to build a contender with the current young core. If that's the case, you'll need cheap role players (i.e. all those FRP assets in 2027 and 2029) once this team gets way more expensive.

? If they don't take the next step, you'll probably need to try and make a superstar trade in 2025 or 2026, and having a greater *volume* of FRP assets that are pushed out into further years is probably better value at that time.

? Yes, Devin Booker is someone who could potentially be available in a year or two given the obvious issues in Phoenix, and having their own picks could be a powerful incentive to grease the wheels for that, if needed (just as it was for Brooklyn to deal Bridges today)

? Phoenix just won below 50 games in a loaded West and 0 playoff games. One of their two star players is 36 years old. Their outlook is not great.

? This does not impact the 2024 draft in any way

You can go ahead and put it down opening night in Boston?the Knicks.

New York is going to be so overhyped. Still don?t like the bench. And when this doesn?t work the Knicks are crippled for a long time.

Being reminded that Knick fans are really dumb.

Bridges is a REALLY good player. He would be the one of the two best 3rd options in the league, or an average 2nd option on offense. Combine that with great D and Noodles is a great player.

4 Unprotected 1sts, 1 Bucks 1st, a Swap and a 2nd round pick? That is borderline Superstar highway robbery. It isn't quite at the level of AD or PG13 haul, but it is close.

On a personal note, one of my best friends is a huge Knicks fan. I have been singing him Bridges' praises since that draft, but I always refer to him by his college nickname "Noodles." It always mildly upset him because it was so silly.

I will probably be ordering him a custom Noodles jersey now.

That makes sense.  Houston's two options were take Brooklyn's pick and they'd be mediocre, or let them bottom out and get the Suns picks.  Keeping Brooklyn's picks as they hit bottom (and getting a shot at Cooper Flagg) was never an option.

I think another way to look at it is as follows, even if it involves suspending our reflexive disbelief about the Knicks front office - that they're chronically inept.

You have a playoff team that has kept their current core together and has swapped a player who didn't play a big role for them in the postseason for someone who is probably the best player available in terms of fit for the team that they've got.

The war chest of picks is definitely a problem for the future (obviously, you don't want to send picks out) but we have to measure that against the idea that, if New York's front office feels that the team is set to be in contention for a Finals appearance for the foreseeable future, it's not that crazy.

Knicks move really impact the Sixers, Heat, Bucks, Cavs, etc.

I just don't see them beating a full Cs team.
