Would people be willing to do something like:
Simons, Hugo, Walsh, plus picks
for
Jackson
Another pathway could be White to another team, like HOU, and young players and picks from HOU (and likely BOS) to MEM.
IMO, need to keep Hugo out of deals. We don't have a lot of developmental talent since we've missed on Walsh and Baylor.
I agree that keeping Hugo is important, but have to keep an open mind if he plus Simons can deliver a player who can put the Cs into legit contention over the next few years.
I don?t really see either Baylor or Walsh as missed. Baylor may well be a decent end of rotation player. Walsh is still a prospect at 21 and has shown some very promising signs this year.
Simons, Hauser, and picks for Jackson works.
Talent-wise thst sounds great to me. Picking up another 50M salary doesn?t sound so good.
Yeah. I don't think Jackson is realistic, and I don't think the team really wants to add another huge chunk salary. But, theoretically, right now we're projected to be $42.45 million below the second apron next season. If we sent out Hauser and next year's draft pick, we could fit Jackson's $49.0 million salary and have a whopping $4,302,215 to fill out the roster.
So...
Jackson / Queta
Tatum / Garza / Minott
Brown / Walsh
White / Scheierman
Pritchard / Hugo
We'd have to fill out the roster with guys making the rookie minimum in order to stay below the second apron.
For a GM who has said he craves flexibility, that's probably not the way to go.
