Honestly, if the Celtics end up with Queta, Garza & Williams as their center rotation, is this the worst center rotation in the teams history?
Andrew DeClerq, Knight and Tarbak. That center group collectively was giving us 10 and 10 with more TOs than blks over 40 mins.

94-95:  Eric Montross, Acie Earl, Pervis Ellison.  Montross was 10/7, Acie was 2/1, Pervis was 7/6.

I'm curious about what Queta might do with a starting role and regular minutes.  He's big, moves well, rebounds, can score inside, good hands.  Does anyone else think that 2025-26 could bring some solid development for Q and he could emerge as a decent starter - if not eventually a strong backup?

DeClerq was solid enough. A few years as a starting center in Orlando next to T-Mac. Good backup center. Strong physical player who could defend & rebound. A reliable player.

I always liked Zan Tabak. Skilled. Bit more of a finesse center. Played in Houston as 3rd string center behind Hakeem. Had a few years in Toronto as a backup center. Then in Indiana as 3rd stringer when they made the Finals. One of those players who was in between a top 3rd stringer to just about passable backup center.

Travis Knight was disappointing. Legit height and good speed. Bit of a midrange shot. Never got to grips with the physicality of the NBA. Never got himself strong enough to deal with those physical battles. Got pushed around too much. He had some talent. Probably the most talent of the 3 of them but he did the least with it. DeClerq did the most with what little talent he had.

I remember being excited about Montross when he arrived and during his rookie year. Boy did that not age well. Never improved. Became more and more of a 7 foot stiff as each year went by.

Pervis was cool. Just never healthy. He was very good whenever his body allowed him to be.

Never warmed to Acie Earl. Liked him the least of 6 of them.

I have my doubts on Queta. I do not see much remaining ceiling. I think he is what he is.

One-time top recruit Charles Bassey was a star for the Boston Celtics in Summer League.

He isn't sticking around to see if he gets a contract offer. Bassey is heading overseas.

Eurohoops reports that Bassey has several European teams interested in him, but he's leaning toward signing with KK Partizan in Serbia.

?Charles is honored by the interest shown by Basketball Club Partizan,? his agent Mark McNeil told Meridian Sport. ?He is definitely considering the offer and will continue discussions with the club and his representative. Other European clubs have also contacted him, but Partizan has been his priority.?

If Bassey?s short-term goal was to get a decent pro contract you have to hand it to him. Came in and immediately established himself as the most ready player on the court. He didn?t play to the level of competition- played his game and displayed pro ready talent.  Maybe not NBA rotation talent but he can work his way there with a good European experience - and hopefully for him a good payday.

Yep.  Smart move by him and his agent.

Admittedly, I somewhat wish he was on our roster, because I think he's at at least the same skill level as our existing centers.

I knew we would not sign him because we are tanking via our roster, and he would have helped,  but the Celtics would never admit that.
