Quick video (3min) of Durant talking about what Tatum & Lillard have ahead of them in their achilles injury recoveries.

Durant talks about the not playing / resting + continuing to rehab even after you return and that he is still doing some of it today years later + it made it more difficult for him to take long jump-shots because he didn't have the power in his legs anymore. He had to swap those shots out for different shots post-injury.

Interesting notes especially the long 3s & step back 3s. Also that he was still doing rehab long after he came back from injury.

Great advice from someone who came off the injury with 7 strong years and still counting.  A couple of those years among his best.  And the injury at 31.

Tatum should be thinking about how to adjust his game but at the same time he and KD are not the same human being and JT will need to see what his own future holds for him.  But it's nice to see someone with the same type of injury go on to have the kind of career that Durant has had.   Tatum doesn't seem like someone who will shy away from hard work so I expect that he'll do whatever it takes to get back to being a top NBA player.

During an interview with CelticsBlog's Noa Dalzell, Brown stated he has had to make sacrifices for the Celtics in ways that he hasn't always agreed with.

?I disagree with a lot of things,? Brown said. ?I?ve had to change roles, styles. I?ve had to do things that other players of my talent just haven?t had to do, and I?ve been okay with them, because I?ve always been a team guy. I feel like sometimes that gets taken for granted.?

It's put up or shut up time for Jaylen.

No Tatum around. Jaylen is the man. He is the #1 option. He doesn't need to sacrifice. Shows us what you can do. Show us how much you really had to sacrifice. Show us how good you truly are.

Better to keep quiet and let your play do the talking.  JB isn't going to have the benefit of being the #2 option.  He's going to get the opponent's best wing defender every game.

He?s asking a lot of questions, that?s for sure. I wonder if JB is saying all this stuff since he was recently hanging out with Kyrie.  The company you keep.. :-X

Kenneth Lofton Jr scored 42pts in an NBA game during his rookie season. That?s wild. I wouldn?t mind keeping him in Maine. See if we can get the guy on a weight loss program.

Do they call this "Scottie Pippen Syndrome"?

He will have to do better than 32% from 3.

Brown likes to philosophize, likes to talk.  I still like him though.

When Brown tries to do too much he becomes very average. This is my fear this season.

The ball stops moving of offense when it hits his hands and he becomes a black hole settling for bad shots.

He tries to be the primary ball handler and turns it over.

Yeah, I'm confused by what JB is talking about.  We've seen the offense run through him.  Joe tries to stagger JT's and JB's minutes, with JB being the primary offensive engine when he's out there without Tatum.

JB has been very good, but I'm skeptical that there's a higher level.  I share the concern that you do, which is that he'll try too hard and force things.

I agree.  We have all seen enough of Brown over the years to have a pretty good read on him as a player.  Tatum is simply better.  Brown is solid top 20, Tatum is top 5 (preinjury).  Tatum has more versatility also.  You can play Tatum at PF and he defends and rebounds while continuing to be the primary scorer.  Brown can't do that, not many players can.

I think fans in general underappreciate the versatility of Tatum.  Tatum leads the team in rebounds and scoring.  Rebounding takes energy, effort.  Being the primary scorer and primary rebounder on a team takes a lot of work and effort.  Brown may replace the scoring in his own way, but he is not going to replace everything else Tatum does.

So long to Drew Peterson.  He signed a two-way contract with Charlotte.  I'll miss him even though he didn't get much playing time.  Good handle for 6'9", was a 40% 3pt shooter and hustled when he got his few chances.  Looks like Charles Lee recognized his potential....good luck Drew.

I liked Drew too. He was a connector. There are only so many spots each year. I hope he gets to play in Charlotte and makes the most of his chance.

Yep. Drew would have been useful on this year's team. Another big forward we could throw out there. Plays better defense than Niang. Shoots better than Minott.

After the game, which the Celtics lost 100-96, Walsh took responsibility for his actions.

It was a dumb decision, Walsh admitted. I low-key forgot I got the first tech. I also remembered that don?t nobody really hit anybody in the NBA. So I really didn?t have no reason to attack him but I thought that it was dumb.

It was a rookie mistake, immature for me to do it, he added. Can?t let it happen again.

Mazzulla, watching the game in the crowd as Boston continues to move through its summer schedule, expressed support for his player even amid the ejection according to Walsh.

Yeah [Mazzulla] told me he loved it, Walsh said, per Boston Globe reporter Gary Washburn. He was texting me like, I love this out of you.'

Of course, Mazzulla may not represent the opinion of every part of Celtics management.

Joe liked it. Don?t know if Brad liked it, Walsh quipped of Stevens, who had been in the front row. We?ll see what happens.

Walsh was busy prior to his second technical. Along with the fouls, he notched 13 points, three rebounds, and a steal in 10 minutes of play. He noted that teams have been playing him in a more physical style, but that he needs to manage his intensity in a more productive way.

I was kind of letting it slide but at the same time, I should have known better than to take it to that next level, Walsh said of Miami?s style. I knew better than that. But for sure, I don?t want to be no pushover, I don?t want to let somebody roll over for me.

If Joe praised Jordan?s actions I think that?s an idiotic response from the head coach.  Walsh?s comments in this article are reasonable.  Joe doesn?t need to pile onto Jordan if Walsh understands his mistakes and acknowledges his own immaturity.  Joe can tell Jordan he likes his energy, his toughness, the nice start to the game - but to praise the senseless pushes that got him ejected, it?s just stupid to praise that.  Tell Jordan this is a growth experience - learning how to keep the lid on when things get heated.  If you?re in the locker room you can?t help the team.  I get that Joe likes the spunk - but praising the Ts in this situation I think is ridiculous.   But Joe knows Jordan and I don?t and maybe Joe was thinking that was what Jordan needed to hear from him.
