Celtics now on a 59 win pace, pretty much everyone is healthy, and they have the third easiest remaining strength of schedule.

Really? Dang I was looking at the schedule thinking we had some pretty rough stretches coming up in late February and a decent chunk of March  :P

But honestly we should be able to "sleepwalk" to the 2 seed now. Up 4 games on the Knicks and have the tiebreaker.

After last night it dropped just barely to 4th easiest schedule. The next four games are against Toronto, Detroit, Cleveland and Denver, but that's probably their toughest remaining stretch. So once Boston clears that stretch the remaining 21 games are against teams with a combined win percentage of about 44%, 17 of their final 21 games are against teams with a .500 or below record.

They do have a 6 game west coast road trip, but its against Memphis + the 10, 11, 12, 13, and 14 seeds in the west. So very much the soft underbelly of the west.

Something i find interesting: Most minutes played, regular season and playoffs combined, since start of 2021-2022 season:

1: Tatum 12,621
5: Brown 11,033
8: White 10,565

If it feels like you've seen a lot of Tatum/Brown/White the last four years its because you have.

Three deep playoff runs.  It is also interesting that we played more playoff games in 2022-23 (20) than we did in 2023-24 (19), even though in 2023-24, we were in the finals. 2021-22 was the most with 24.

Two things I get a jolt of nausea every time I think of them:
1.  The Lakers trade for Luka.
2.  The Patriots beat the Bills in week 18.

I'll get past the patriots one after the draft and free agency.  The Luka one - will be sickened by that for a long time.

Brown has won 16 playoff series since he came into the league. Tatum 14.

Some organizations go decades without winning just one.

This is a very good read by Noa Dalzell on Derrick White. Might also explain some of his "struggles" in December and January he had. I won't quote the whole article here since it's long but I highly recommend reading it  :)

Interesting article on ESPN website discussing the Celtics' 3-point shooting scheme.
A lot of the usual crazy stat minutia analysis, but one item that was telling was the +/- point difference for the starting 5 last season compared to this season. Who knows what variables play into that, but it shows our standard starters, when together, have been much less imposing this year.
Also, a good discussion about the recent slump. Porzingis openly admitted that the team's shooting can impact their defensive effort.

I don't usually mind resting or load managing guys especially KP, Jrue and Horford given their age and injury risk (Porzingis). But how is it that Porzingis isn't on the injury report right before the Raptors game, then he gets put on it 2 minutes before tipoff, and now he's about to miss his 3rd game in the last 4 with "illness". Like idk... why not rest him for Detroit as well and just have him play the Cleveland and Denver games which matter more. Makes no sense when Jrue is already dealing with something. Unless they think they are playing CLE and DEN and maybe want to "hide their cards" but there's a decent chance we're about to lose 3 in a row now. Should have let KP play Denver, then rest against Portland which is also after a 2-day break so it's another extended break

It may very well be Horford, Jrue, and Porzingis last season with the NBA or with the Celtics. They gotta make it count.

This is crazy

Quote
Jayson Tatum turns 27 years old tomorrow.

Players with 13,000+ career points before turning 27:

Tatum
LeBron
Kobe
KD
Wilt
Melo
T-Mac

And in this list, Kobe and JT the only ones who won a title before 27. Lebron I think won his first at 27 or 28.

Interesting.

I'm surprised.  If they wanted to sign another 2 way player they could have signed JD or DP to a standard.  Seems to me that 15th spot will be left open to continue saving money.  This team better win it again this year because 1 or 2 players will be moved after the season.

So Jrue?s mallet finger is on his shooting hand. His right pinky finger is in a cast. This is not good. Just rest him up til the playoffs. I read in X that Lu Dort dealt with the same issue last season and played through it. Looks like Jrue is hoping to do the same by not having surgery? Man i really hope we made a run at Lonnie Walker.
