Maybe I?m just out of touch with what the cool kids are doing today, but who the heck greenlit breakdancing as an Olympic event? It honestly just seems pretty awkward

I completely agree with you. It is an athletic performance and cool to see, but it felt like watching a So You Think You Can Dance instead of Olympics.

Here is an article about it.  Seems like it wasn?t the breakdancers who pushed it.

Interesting read. I had no idea that this was basically a one time thing (for now). It isn't even an event for the 2028 Olympics in LA

So we have breakdancing but no baseball.

I'm sorry folks, I just don't take this whole thing seriously. It's so lame and so corporate. So many weird politics and machinations involved.

Not my cup of tea.

And that's a gold medal for the USWNT! I am an American football guy but my 11 year old daughter is now heavy into soccer. She plays on a fairly competitive team and we took her and 7 of her teammates to watch the USWNT win the She Believes Cup final a couple of months ago. Now I sit by her side as she cheers on her heroes as they win gold. It has been a fun ride wathing this team with her!

Glad you're daughter gets to experience this moment! I was 12 when I discovered the USWNT in 1999 and it was the beginning of a lifelong fanship (and an uneventful career as a high school player). I still remember that initial championship and looking up to Mia Hamm, Brandi Chastain, Julie Foudy and co. as a young girl. I even still have my signed Hamm jersey.

So as of tonight we are leading the total medal tally (which is how we rank things) but behind China by 1 gold in the gold metal tally (which is how the rest of the world ranks things). They have 39 and we have 38. Any chance we can beat them in total golds or no? How many events are left? Or is that it?

EDIT: Nvm, there's one more day...we should get one more gold in womens' basketball at least.
Any odd typos are because I suck at typing on an iPhone :D

I'm a huge fan of the US women. This team has a great chance in the World Cup as well. Lots of youth in there.

Hold on - They actually had "break dancing" as an Olympic event ?
Is this a joke ? Was it some sideshow event that the Frogs included because, well, they are the French.
Please tell me this wasn't an actual competition.

Obviously I am unaware because I did not watch these Olympics.
When I heard that Lebron, the great fraud himself, was pretending to love this country by carrying our flag during the opening ceremonies, I was so turned off, I knew I would probably tune the Games out. Hearing about the drag queen show sealed it for me, thus my lack of knowledge about specific events.
