Is anyone else kinda hoping that the closing ceremonies is nothing but drag queens?

Just keep the focus on the athletes.  Not politics, not culture, not the city, not celebrities.  Just the athletic achievements.

Totally agree, just keep in mind that we are not the ones who chose to force culture and politics into the Games.
The Olympic Committee and France did that, I assume.

Great conclusion to one of the better Summer Olympics I can remember. I don?t think I?ve watched this much of a summer games since maybe London 2012.  Thought Paris did a great job as host. The venues were simply amazing.   To me, the track & field was the highlight.  So many of those races had high drama. Both men?s & women?s. A real shame that the boycotters missed a phenomenal Olympic games.  It?ll be interesting to see where the overall ratings fall.

The music guy in me appreciated Phoenix & Kavinsky in the closing ceremonies.  Not too mention Red Hot Chili Peppers & Snoop/Dre in the LA segment.

To be honestl, I thought the Closing Ceremony was pretty boring. It seemed to be designed more for the white audience with the music selection and the transition from one to another took a very long time. Wishes they would incorporate more French history and culture into he ceremonies. However, the Games themselves was awesome! Lots of great games, the audience were amazing, awesome moments and overall, a good chunk of my time the last couple of weeks are spent watching these games. Good job Paris!

Not looking forward to the LA traffic in four years. It will be a nightmare haha. They're not even ready for the Olympics in 2028. Transportation is a huge issue here.

Wonder how will they convert SoFi into the swimming sport and then quickly turn it back into turf for the Rams preseason games. Or will they play elsewhere. Pretty cool tho to make that venue a swimming sport.

Maybe I?m just out of touch with what the cool kids are doing today, but who the heck greenlit breakdancing as an Olympic event? It honestly just seems pretty awkward

I completely agree with you. It is an athletic performance and cool to see, but it felt like watching a So You Think You Can Dance instead of Olympics.

Here is an article about it.  Seems like it wasn?t the breakdancers who pushed it.

Interesting read. I had no idea that this was basically a one time thing (for now). It isn't even an event for the 2028 Olympics in LA

I fell in love with hip hop/rap back in about 1984. I remember going to breakdancing battles, where only around 10-15 people would show up. Someone would have to bring the cardboard or vinyl flooring, and of course the radio.

This definitely brought me back to that era. My wife and I were glued to the TV and watched every second of the men's competition. I just wished the DJ's played more hip hop, where the dancers recognized the music. Part of the scoring was musicality, and how the dancers moved to the music. I believe the DJ's had access to 300 songs from different genres.

I hope this becomes a staple of the Olympics going forward and not just a one time thing.

Wow - what a win for the Team USA Women's Basketball team. Unbelievable shots by Gabby Williams at the end, but Team USA hit all of their FTs to close it out. Great job coming back from 10 down in the 3rd. That clinches the tie in Golds with China at 40

What a horrible job coaching by the US coach.  Did they not teach her how to break a press in coaching 101?  Also, why didn't she press on the last couple of France possessions?  Make them burn time getting the ball up.

But, as bad as she was, the players were awful.  Just like the men's game and I was the NBA would allow it, but FIBA plays rougher and neither the men's nor women's were ready for it.

US was [dang] lucky to win that game, a game they probably shouldn't have won.  I'd rather have seen Clark and Reese vs DT and Lloyd out there.

USA Gymnastics said Monday that its appeal to restore gymnast Jordan Chiles' bronze medal in the floor exercise has been turned down.

The federation said in a statement to social media that it was informed by the Court of Arbitration for Sport that rules "do not allow for an arbitral award to be reconsidered even when conclusive new evidence is presented."

What a bizarre, unsatisfying process.
