What would it cost in addition to Brogdon?

To make salaries work we would have to include both Horford and Pritchard (unless we give up DWhite or Rob, which we shouldn’t do).

Something like Brogdon, Horford, Pritchard and picks. I would want to get a third team involved and get a veteran big back.
2025 CelticsStrong Historical Draft Orlando Magic:
PG: Chris Paul, Fred VanVleet
SG: Ray Allen, OG Anunoby, Zach Lavine
SF: Paul Pierce, Gordon Hayward
PF: Chris Bosh, Serge Ibaka, David West
C: Tim Duncan, Andrew Bogut

Hard pass. He’s not worth gutting our team.

Not sure we would have to get our team but it would most likely cost us Horford - if the deal is Brogdon, Pritchard, Horford, a pick (we have the Warriors) and a pickup swap, I probably do it

In one word, NO.

Unless BS can get really creative on this one, much like the original trade, I don't see it from happening, plus I really can't see anyone giving us a hand to do so.

If Brogdon is healthy then no.

As C21 and I have both noted separately, it's possible to make salaries work with Brogdon, a Griffin S&T, Walsh and Pritchard.  That's not gutting our team, particularly if we signed a free agent PG to replace Pritchard (like Payne).

I don't think that Wyc will exceed the second apron, because he's just more interested in making massive profits.  But, we could make a competitive package without gutting our rotation or our depth.

It may be possible to make the numbers work around Brogdon and it may even technically be possible to do it without gutting the rotation, but the issue is that Portland doesn't really have a use for Brogdon at all.  If they trade for Brogdon, they're in much the same situation as they are right now: in possession of a win-now guard who they need to flip because he's doesn't fit their plans.

I'd love to be wrong, of course.  I just don't see us as a realistic partner with Portland here.

Why is that a bad thing for Portland, if the trade makes sense otherwise?  They'd be picking up several assets for Jrue, which more than makes up being forced to take on the reigning 6MOY.  Then, they could trade Brogdon later.  Brogdon isn't the value they'd be getting here, he's just salary filler.

And Brogdon would be significantly cheaper, given that Holiday is definitely opting into the last year of his contract.

That’s gutting our team IMO. No way in hell I’d give up those pieces for Jrue.

As much as I’d hate to lose Walsh, I’d probably do that deal.

So if we did trade for Jrue, who is he supplanting in starting lineup?  White?  Timelord?
I assume that Al is going to come off the bench this year, but that might not be true either, not sure.

Holiday, JB, JT, KP, Timelord, reserves White, Al, PP, Hauser

or

White, Holiday, JB, JT, KP?, reserves Timelord, Al, PP, Hauser

Wasn't White announced as the starting point guard already for this year?  White played really well for us last year.  It would be hard to move him to the bench.

Go back and watch Jimmy Butler cook him in the playoffs last season. Jrue looks like he's lost a step and is no longer that defense stalworth
ok fine
