Is there anybody other than FSU fans and Moranis who think that FSU would lose by less than 14 against any of the playoff teams?
They're 12 point underdogs against Georgia. That's going to be my first bet since sports gambling became legal in Maine.
The only way that Georgia doesn't cover is if a bunch of their starters sit out to prepare for the draft.
I'm not saying FSU will win, I'm saying FSU should be in. They are an unbeaten major conference champion that scheduled well in the non-con. They played 11 games against power 5 schools and won them all. They have wins over 13, 15, and 22 in the final rankings, no super great opponent, but that isn't horrible either. I get the schedule is a weaker than the other 4 teams, but 2 of those teams lost, one of which lost badly at home and needed a 4th and 31 to beat a .500 team. Texas only has 3 top 25 wins, Bama at 4 is awesome, but Okie St is 20 and KSU is 25. They lost to #12. Bama has played a much tougher schedule, but they lost badly to Texas.
As I've said, I would have had FSU at 3 and Bama at 4 and left out Texas. The Big 12 is a weak conference and Texas had a bunch of close games since the loss to OU, i.e. Houston, TCU, and KSU were all 1 score games. Since the Clemson game in week 4, FSU has had only 1 game be a 1 score game, the rivalry game with Miami. And FSU was winning games because of an elite defense and rushing attack. Rodemacker actually has a higher QB rating than Travis since he took over (small sample size I know), so it isn't like they lost all that much going to the RS Junior. Glenn, the true freshman, was actually the highest ranked recruit of the 3, but he was put in a tough spot getting his first start in the ACC championship game, but he played well enough for the Seminoles to get a 2 score victory against the 15th ranked team in the country.
FSU got shafted. Whatever credibility the committee has is gone. FSU was unbeaten and ranked 4th, won a CC by double digits, and dropped behind 2 different teams that lost a game during the season. That is just inexcusable inconsistency. What did any of the committee see on Saturday that changed their view of the strength of Florida St. verse the strength of Texas? They played similar level of opponents. They both won by double digits, but one did so with a 3rd string true freshman getting his first start. If anything, the fact that FSU keeps winning by multiple scores, proves the overall talent of the team and Rodemaker will be back for the post season.
