There's two ways I will approach this season depending on Sunday's result

Way 1: They Win Sunday

They move to 2-4. Hopefully they can shock the world and split BUF/MIA after, but even if not, they fall to 2-6 and you hope they beat the Commanders + Colts. Then right after the bye, they have 3 winnable games (Giants, Chargers, Steelers), and two late in the season against Broncos and Zach Wilson-Jets. Obviously BUF/KC too, but in this scenario at least they stay in the mix for a while and can salvage the season.

Way 2: They Lose Sunday

Tank tank tank! Even if not Caleb Williams, there are a lot of other options at QB (like Maye/McCarthy/Penix) or other positions, it's a very loaded draft this upcoming year.
Williams listing out the teams he would play for soured me a bit on him. On paper he is a Lawrence - esque tier talent. I would be ecstatic to get Maye. I haven't seen anything on the other two you listed.

I want the Patriots to invest time in a high level qb with production and ELITE tools. If it doesn't work out, it doesn't work out. I am done with "smart" Qbs with middling tools.

He listed out the teams?  Didn’t see that — just heard he’d made vague “Don’t tank for me, I might stay in school and extra year” threats.

Yeah apparently it was in this tweet online (this is a partial part of it):

It was a week or two ago. Caleb’s only 5 team he would play for are the Cowboys, Raiders, Vikings, Giants, and 49ers. He said if those weren't the choices, he would stay at USC and make more money than a rookie would.
Who knows if things would change, but that would be a key point of during the interview phase if NE was in position

I think its a bunch of bs from a "hey, look at me" Twitter account.

Remember when Burrow wasn't going to play for the Bengals?

Burrow also wasn't making 10 million a year to play in college. I'm pretty sure Burrow didn't have eligibility left either.

At the end of the day, it still isn't going to matter.  Whether its this spring or next, the team sitting at #1 is outside his control.  He can try to Eli or Elway his way out of the situation but the fact that the only place we've seen this list is some no name football news source, I'm talking this with a very large grain of salt.

And if the report is true, if Williams is banking on the Niners or Cowboys to be there at #1 anytime soon, he is going to be sorely disappointed.    So banking on 3 teams to have the #1 either this spring or next spring would really be rolling the dice.

I don't know about the list, but his dad did say on camera that if Caleb didn't like the team picking at 1, he would go back to USC.

With all the NIL money + marketing deals, I think college players especially the star ones have a lot more leverage than before. If there's truly a team at #1 he doesn't want to go to, he can leverage it or just go back to college for another year. He'll still be a Top pick a year from now in all likelihood and will still be making millions at college. And frankly, seeing how some young QBs are getting ruined or being put in bad situations (Fields, Mac Jones, etc.) I think it'll become a trend.

Where are you getting this 10 million figure from? The highest I have seen anywhere is 3.2 million. https://www.msn.com/en-us/sports/ncaafb/how-much-does-caleb-williams-make-a-look-at-the-usc-quarterback-s-nil-earnings-and-potential/ar-AA1hucOD

Now Bryce Young is actually making about 7 million a year in salary plus all of his off court money deals. That is a pretty big difference in money, especially when you factor in the risk of injury or him falling off a bit coming back for a year (which we have seen happen with qbs before). That is why we don't really see players actually refuse to return to school in current day.

BREAKING: Caleb Williams says he can make more money returning to USC next season then as a rookie in the NFL and says he can pick what team he wants to go to because of that.😳

Caleb’s only 5 team he would play for are the #Cowboys, #Raiders, #Vikings, #Giants, and #49ers. 👀

The second part of this is not anywhere close to true from anything I have read. He will make more than double the money as a rookie in NFL (if not more depending on sponsorship and likeness deals he may get in NFL). In addition, he doesn't get the year in service time which could very well end up being a year less of him earning 40 million. Quite frankly this is an extremely dumb inaccurate Tweet I wouldn't give any oxygen.

Malik Cunningham part of the Pats' game plan this Sunday against the Raiders per report.

This'll be fun. Excited to see him fight for the QB1 position if it falls to this.
