Dang. It was an exciting finish but the Pats ultimately lose to the Bye Week 21-17

Saw that meme floating around.

How the Patriots even garner 17 points is crazy. Maybe 5 FGs and a safety. Mac Jones took 8 sacks with a pick 6, and Bailey Zappe threw an INT. The Bye Week was too much for them to handle.

Can’t believe how many people here blame bill and want him to give him zero credit and all the blame for everything. He is having a bad end to his career and certainly appears he has lost his fastball. But as others have said, it seems like maybe younger fans don’t realize this right now is how it ALWAYS is for some other teams.

Who is giving BB no credit? I think most fans acknowledge he is a defensive genius and was a good pairing with Brady.

With that being said, I do remember the days before Brady. I remember BB's offense too. It was godawful. Looked a lot like now, actually. It was worse than Pete Carroll's. I remember Bill was well on his way to getting fired here before he found Brady.

And yet his coaching staff believes they can "turn a high school QB into an all-pro." That is the height of hubris, and that's where the disconnect comes in between Bill's supporters and his detractors.

I don't trust him to rebuild this offense. It's been in the toilet for half a decade now and is getting worse. We don't need any more Sanu's or JuJu's on this roster. I'd be fine with him staying on as coach if he would relinquish power to a GM who can better evaluate offensive talent. But he won't. And I don't think he has enough time left to do a proper reset. He'll be 75+ before this club has any hope of contending again. We need someone younger at GM to take this team forward.

Agreed. I’d be OK with Bill staying if he gives up his GM role. If not, could go with Mayo as DC, McDaniels as OC and O’Brien for HC.

When I stop by to read this thread, I see mostly frustration. There's a populist appeal to firing the grumpy old man, but that's where the thinking ends. What would the above scenario accomplish (besides satisfying those that want to see Bill fired)?

The current team is not good enough to win with any of the coaches. People are pretending like the Patriots should be good again after a 20 year run of dominance.

Patience people- this might take a little while. In the meantime, look at what the rest of the league has been doing since 2000.

Compared to the Patriots, its not pretty.

Are you actually reading what we're writing? This isn't some knee-jerk rage. I'm quite calm about all of this.

I just don't trust Bill as GM to rebuild this offense. He needs help. Full stop.

It's gonna be Mac. I feel like if they were gonna make a change they would have already announced it like the Jets did.

Also, FWIW, Mac is scheduled to speak with reporters tomorrow. It's not a 100% guarantee but usually the QB speaking is the guy who ends up starting that game.

but why won't he just say it. Just more disrespect showed to your QB.

No clue. It's all a mess. None of their QBs are good.

I'm amazed by your fascination with the Patriots this year.

While I'm rooting for a loss, Mac Jones is just so brutally bad right now. He shouldn't even be playing the rest of this season, just go to Zappe already
