Bill is trying to win these games. He’s chasing Shula. It’s unintentional tanking. They are just that bad.

Great loss! Definitely didn't want to win a possible tie breaker game for a top pick.

We're so close to having one of Williams/Maye/Harrison! (or J. Daniels if he rises)

The patriots haven’t helped him, but the idea Mac jones would have been a good qb anywhere else is absolutely laughable. Do people forget aj mccarron exists?

Worst QB in Patriot history because of the way he impacts losing games. Teams sit back and wait for the inevitable mistake. He's made them the worst team in football.

The reality is, Mac AND Zappe both blow. This team doesn't even have a backup lol. Disaster all around

Mac Jones was a good QB for the first half of his rookie year.  Then the Bills game happened and he has gotten considerably worse since.  I know you all think I'm crazy because I attribute that game to the beginning of the end of Mac Jones in NE.  But, I absolutely maintain you cannot tell the world that you have so little faith in your QB's arm that you only throw the ball 3 times in a 4 point game.  Because you aren't just telling the world that, you are telling the QB and his teammates that you don't trust him to throw the ball. You can't have a QB that you don't trust.  Period. And Bill doesn't trust Mac and probably never has, but it was apparent to everyone, including Mac, after that Bills game.
2023 Historical Draft - Brooklyn Nets - 9th pick

Bigs - Pau, Amar'e, Issel, McGinnis, Roundfield
Wings - Dantley, Bowen, J. Jackson
Guards - Cheeks, Petrovic, Buse, Rip

He looked fine his rookie year. Things went downhill fast, though. People wanted to see Zappe today, same result. QB isn’t the biggest problem with this team. Bill and Bob are.

Eh.  Bill didn't make multiple throws that a high school secondary would pick off.  The QB play is atrocious.

Mac has had games where’s he’s thrown the ball with zip. No, he’s not Josh Allen, but you don’t have to be to be an effective QB. Regarding the bolded, why did Bill draft Mac then? Why was he drafted in the first round at all. Also, how did he win in a championship with Alabama. He’s a system QB. The Pats system sucks.

Blaming only the QBs to me is the easy route. Belichick the GM has been the problem, and frankly even his coaching nowadays is extremely subpar. All the penalties, lack of fundamentals, poor special teams. Isn't Belichick supposed to be a genius at that + instilling a system? Because this whole operation has become dysfunctional since Brady was shown the door after 2019. That and the lack of spending outside of that rare spree in 2021. There's also a clear lack of talent on the roster and it shows when we play these good teams.

Then you have horrible decisions like having Patricia/Judge run offense, Cam Achord still being a Special Teams coach despite being awful at it. Dysfunctional.

There's a ton of problems with this team. Hell, even our kicker right now is very unreliable. If only the GM didn't let Folk go though!

Exactly. Fish rots from the head down. Bill and Bob are responsible for this mess.

You really just have to retire this take man. I know we have disagreed on a lot over the years but this is the first take that you have had that is so objectively illogical I can’t figure out how you really believe it. I know people have said to not take the bait on such a silly take but I will one more time for ol times sake. Is your take that professional athletes, even first round picks that experienced massive success in college, are extremely mentally fragile and they are one bad game script away from just having their careers ruined? Like if we let neismith play 5 more minutes in two games In December of his rookie year he becomes an all star? I think it is clear to everyone watching the patriots and Mac that he is not a good quarterback and was never gonna be a great player even if he got drafted on the 1991 cowboys. He is has an average to weak arm, he isn’t particularly mobile, he has shown poor decision making throughout his career. We are saying we moved him from Trent dilfer to Gardner minshew with one game or what?

Oh I agree. This team lacks talent at basically every position. Tons of blame to go around, I think a lot of us are just bemused by the take that Mac jones was gonna be a good qb under any circumstance. He is literally aj macaron all over again and he won’t start for any other team ever.

I mean, if Mac is that mentally weak then there's no way he was going to end up as a successful NFL QB.  His first sign of adversity and he mentally turtles for multiple seasons?
