Love the Joe Dumars pick. He was one of the 4 guys I was targetting at the start of this 3rd round. Westphal was another (2nd on my list) and of course KJ since I selected him (1st on my list). The other guy is still on the table.

Dumars was the best SG on the table. I love his ball-handling and passing in addition to his shooting and scoring. That separates him from most of the other offensive SGs still on the table (same with Westphal). As does his defensive talent. Wonderful player.

Great guy from the 70s. David Thompson says hello.

Dantley was someone I had difficulty ranking. Excellent scorer who drew fouls like few else, but of all the high scoring wings of that period his refusal to shoot threes really stands out. Just over 40 career attempts from deep! Intriguing player.

and the (lack of) defense, or at least that's my perception. It's funny to read about Dantley because a lot of the offense seemed to revolve around a 6'5 dude being crafty in the paint. It sounds like he had a nice shot too -- just liked doing work in the post for whatever reason. I think I lean towards benefit of the doubt if he were trained differently on that one, but there's some element of a leap to that.

Pau. Amare, Dantley sure will put up points in the paint.

Uber efficient over multiple seasons and a solid passer.  I had him ranked higher than King because of the passing, but similar players.  4 straight seasons (1 limited for injury) of over 30 ppg.  Then fir a solid role on the Pistons finals team later in hus career.  I think he was the best overall scorer in the draft given his efficiency over so many seasons.  In 2016, ESPN had him as the 72nd best player in NBA history.  I can't believe he was still on the board as the 9th pick in the 3rd round.

Dantley was the guy I was hinting at in an earlier post as a ball-stopper. Breaking plays. Going iso. Brilliant at it. But always a problem even back in the 80s. Ego problems. Chemistry problems. Problems with teammates. They followed him around.

Detroit got rid of him so they could allow the guards more control of the offense. Utah got rid of him to make way for K Malone because they didn't want Dantley hurting his development.

A brilliant scorer but he often broke the offense to do it. He would hold the ball too long while he sized up his defenders. Everyone would stop moving. Not that it allowed the defense to stop him because Dantley was so dang good at what he did. But it did make it hard for his teammates to play with him and keep up with him. That was more the issue.

I remember Bulls fans were delighted when DET traded Dantley because he used to roast Scottie Pippen. Pip could do nothing with him. Nobody could. One of the unstoppable scorers.

I remember KG picking his All-Time team once (5-10yrs ago) and he named Dantley as his SF ahead of Bird because Bird didn't play defense.

I remember just shaking my head. "You taught Dantley played defense?"

I always presumed KG's comment about Bird was more from watching him as a young one in the late 80s early 90s when Bird couldn't play any D anymore.

KG is also just a poor analyst.

I think if Mo gets some spacing in the back-court I'll be more comfortable with the paint-pounding team he has so far. Lots of talent though

because he could and shots at the rim are even today still the best shot to take.  Also, a lot easier to get the free points while getting opponent into foul trouble.

Early in these things, I almost always just take bpa, but I do like how this team is shaping up.  An old school style team, that I think will be unguardable.  I have a backcourt I'm targeting, but I suspect at least 1, if not both will be off the board.

Donoghus is currently in the midst of a Lollapalooza set, so he might not be picking with much haste. With Kernewek's unavailability, I don't think it's a very big deal

I was very torn between DJ and another center I really like, but I went with DJ for the Celtics swag. Admittedly wasn't very smart to not pick some big man, but ah well. The DJ/Moncrief duo will be electric on defense, while also being two really good offensive player that will benefit by playing next to Mullin. Very happy with my team so far.
