I'm going to take a chance here on another one of those picks where I feel like it might be a reach but I really want him on my team. The Raptors are taking Bobby Jones. I'll follow up with accolades in a bit, but the long story short here is he's the best and most versatile defensive player in the draft (IMO, clearly debatable). He's also probably just the best guy in this draft. Everyone loves him.

I don't know how I'll play him yet. He can guard the big power forwards but he's really there to guard the swings. We'll see how it plays out. It feels a little odd taking someone who might end up being my sixth man this early but he's the only one of his kind in this draft. He's also someone who doesn't mind playing off the bench or starting. So we'll see how that all plays out.

Bobby is early, but I definitely had him as a guy to target for his defensive prowess and ability to guard multiple positions

I had tricky ranking Bobby, but he was a phenom defensively. Will slot into so many lineups with ease

Well, Dwight likes shooters around him, and this guy could flat out shoot the basketball.

OKC Thunder select  Peja Stojakovic

His 2004 season was special- carried that Kings team with an injured Chris Webber and finished 4th in MVP voting on elite shooting efficiency.

I loved that 2004 Kings team until Chris Webber came back. He ruined everything. They were beautiful to watch built around Peja and those other guys. Dominant too.

Blast!! Peja was another guy who would be brilliant in the modern game. Such a good shooter, but very strong overall offensive game too

Peja is one of the guys I was thinking about relative to Chris Mullin. Both superb shooters. Both superb without the ball.

Yet, Mullin was able to be consistently more productive / resilient in tough situations. Big games. Tough defenders. Top opponents in the playoffs. Mullin had that extra shot-creation / one-on-one game to get his shot off. It allowed him to destroy people consistently in the playoffs whereas Peja was more up and down and went missing in some series.

I don't mean this to disparage Peja but to praise Mullin. I love Peja and absolutely had him as a starter in this league. His shooting touch is unreal and he'd be even better in today's league than he was in the early 00s.

Mullin is just such an outlier among these elite shooters. Those 25ppg seasons and straight up killing people in the playoffs. Plus passing as well on top of the scoring & shooting. The other elite shooting SFs can't match what Mully is bringing to the table.

Peja gets underrated as a defender & rebounder. He was average to a bit above average at both. Some of these other shooting SFs are either below average defenders or below average rebounders or both. That gives Peja an edge over some of the shooting SFs yet to be taken.

I love Chauncey and Peja next to Dwight. Two lights out shooters. That is a really nice combination to build around.

I disagree that Peja was even close to average at defense, but he's a great pick here.

This is my favorite 3 man team so far.
