I’m very surprised Philly wouldn’t have kept him at that price.

ESPN Sources: The Los Angeles Clippers are acquiring Houston Rockets forward K.J. Martin in a trade for two future second-round draft picks.

I wish we'd done that one.

Also, Westbrook back to the Clips.

I don’t think we could have done that one.  Since Martin was signed originally to a four-year minimum deal, it wasn’t technically a minimum contract.  He wouldn’t have been eligible to be acquired via the minimum trade exception, so we needed a trade exception.  It’s not clear to me if the taxpayer MLE can be used as a trade reception like the non-taxpayer exception.  So we might not have had a vehicle to acquire Martin.

Westbrook signed for $8 million for two years.  Has his game slipped that much?

Korner or hauser would work.

Haha, project 6-9 continues!

Toronto cannot get enough of these 6 foot 9 athletes. They don't have enough minutes for all these guys. Bench dudes just go there and watch their careers stall. Terrible place for bench guys. They got Siakam, S Barnes and Anunoby. How much did you think you were going to play!?

Kenyon Martin is probably only a 3rd stringer and injury insurance for the Clippers. They still got Norm Powell, Kawhi, PG13, T Mann, Batum, M Morris, Covington ... then Kenyon and Coffey. Loaded on the wings. 9 players.

Not for Houston, who’s clearing payroll for free agent signings.

Wow. Thought he would have gotten more than that. Jalen looked pretty decent on Charlotte last year. Good size at 6’9” for a 3/4 as well.

At some point you have to blame the performance on the court on the players on the court. Every loss is not the coach's fault and every win isn't because of the players.

I’m very surprised Philly wouldn’t have kept him at that price.

He lost his playing time to Danuel House in the playoffs. I doubt they had much interest in keeping him beyond a minimum contract.

He would have fit within the Justin Jackson TPE, right?  Teams can exceed the TOE by $100k?

So Toronto got

G: S Barnes, G Trent Jr
F: Anunoby, G Dick, J McDaniels
F: Siakam, Thad Young, O Porter, Boucher

So 8 SF/PF types and one genuine SG in Trent. Where does McDaniels think his playing time is going to come from?

Not sure if that works for second apron teams.  I know they changed the rules around the de minimis limit in the new CBA, but not sure how.  That said, I though Martin made about $20k more than he did, so yes, he would have if that rule still exists.

Haha, that is a ridiculous contract for D Brooks. I am not sure any other team in the league would have given him the MLE. I was expecting him to get the minimum or close to it. Rockets vastly overpaid for a player who had little to no market for his services.

$20mil a year and for 4 years! Awful.

Not even 1-2yrs but 4 full years. Terrible.

Its a lot, but they desperately need any sort of defense on that team.
Brooks is clearly overpaid, but he is a very good defender, has been a net positive every year in Memphis, and was a starter playing big minutes on the 2nd best team in the West.  He doesn't turn it over eiether.  Shoots too much and definitely runs his mouth more than he should, but it isn't a  terrible deal or signing

Agreed. He’s drastically underrated by fans now because he dared try and talk to lebron and proceeded to choke but besides that I actually see Memphis adding smart and losing brooks as a lateral move or maybe a slight decline
I don’t think he’s underrated. He’s a good defender with one of the worst offensive games in the NBA.

Losing Brooks AND Jones might be bad, but Smart for Brooks is a huge upgrade

What the heck are the Rockets doing?? Insane amount of $ tied up in VanVleet and Brooks. 4/80 for Brooks is worse than Strus’ deal by a long margin!!

Someone should get his agent in the HOF though. Next level hoodwink

Haha yeah, so much for this dude ending up in china…he’s laughing all the way to the bank making more in a year then everyone posting here combined will make in a lifetime

I like Brooks but that's an overpay.
