Love him but I have to admit it has been a good trade. Ideally we should have traded Brogdon. It seems to me that we need a point guard with cold blood and good passing skills to manage the clutch time, which is and has been an issue for too long.

To make the team work, players and coaches need to be taken accountable from top to bottom.

Unfortunately Smart and Brown were the guys who let their duties slip the most in the heat of the battle.
Perhaps because of ambition and willingness to take the extra responsibility, but these decisions had a fatal outcome too often. Now Smart is gone, and I do feel sad about it, but it was the right move and it had to be done.

I wonder if Brown could be next though I don't expect it. A move to get that elite playmaker (Lillard, Haliburton, Garland) and all my wishes for this summer would be granted.

Wish Marcus all the best in Memphis. The Grizzlies are a good team, I think he'll find his place.

You know, it’s funny how 29 teams look at this trade as a major steal by Boston, and many Boston fans are lamenting it.

It’s further hilarious how so many fans have been so critical of Smart - particularly on Twitter - yet now they’re going crazy over trading him.

I was as big of a fan of Smart as they come, but we can’t just keep doing the same things over and over and expecting different results. It’s questionable whether the Zinger move was the right piece to do this on, but people are really overreacting to us trading Smart, I think.
Recovering Joe Skeptic, but inching towards a relapse.

Marcus Smart is gonna pull up for his eighth three of the night and Ja is gonna shoot him. This is entrapment.

Too funny. But am interested to see what he does for that young group. Just what they needed. Imagine we face off against the Grizzlies in next year’s Finals  :o

This is kind of where I am at. It sucks but this board was calling to gut the whole team!

You might think we've won 9 titles with Smart the way fans are lamenting the trade. The Perk trade and the kG/pierce trades were way worse looking back at it.

And then the Rondo trade.

Whether this was the right decision or not remains to be seen. But clearly we have an issue of getting to the ECF and just failing. At some point a change needs to be made if we want to get over the finish line.

My favorite player...gone.  This might be the worst thing this franchise has ever done.  Ever.

It does make the Tony Allen comparison even more apt.

I'm not sure that Smart is what the Grizzles needed. I think Smart would've been better off going to a veteran team. The Grizz seem to have a strange culture. I also thought that the Grizz really needed shooting. I guess we'll see. Good luck Marcus.

I love Marcus.

But someone could easily make a grid of non-scoring PGs and their tendency to take jumpers.

On one extreme is Ben Simmons and on the other extreme is Marcus Smart.  I imagine someone like Rondo is in the middle (or somewhere between Ben Simmons and the middle).

I think Smart would have been even more beloved here if he was closer to Rondo's jumper frequency.

So grateful to have him here.  We tried so many different point guards in front of him, when he was the answer all along.  A true Celtic, I'm proud that he's currently the player listed under my name on CS.
