True warrior, true Celtic, heart at the right place, easy to root for. I'm pretty sure ill shed a tear when that tribute video is coming. He deserves that.

That being said, probably the right basketbal decision, the decline might have started last year, he couldn't stay in front of some guards anymore...

I wish him nothing but the best... perhaps he will come back one day, I do not count it out.

Man... This hurts, Smart was a true celtic. But if it had to happen then getting porzingis (all star big) and 2 firsts in return is a major win.

This one hurts. I get it, but it’s still sad. The defensive identity and the heart and soul of the team. I wish the Clips deal had gone through instead

Definitely not the news I wanted to wake up to this morning, Smart was my favorite Celtic. I hope the Grizzlies fans embrace him as much as we did (or more), he is the perfect continuation of the Tony Allen grit-and-grind culture

I wonder if he'll get "The Grindson" as a nickname?
I'm bitter.

I am surprised but also happy.  No more terrible decisions costing Boston games from Smart.  Feel so much better about the team now.
2025 Historical Draft - Cleveland Cavaliers - 1st pick

Starters - Luka, JB, Lebron, Wemby, Shaq
Rotation - D. Daniels, Mitchell, G. Wallace, Melo, Noah
Deep Bench - Korver, Turner

I didn’t see this coming at all.

Best luck to him.

Smart was not good last year. He didn’t play hard.

I will not miss the hero ball and late game turnovers

This!!
His horrible shot selection could be tolerated because of his defense. His defense slipped big time last year making him a liability half time on the court. Derrick White is much better and should get lions share of playing time.
I will miss when Smart played great defense and hustled but I won’t miss the player who thought he was Steph Curry at times and didn’t stay within his capabilities. This was a great trade by Brad.

I will miss him big time. He dyed his hair green. He always left everything on the floor. How will the J's react? We all know it's a business but there goes another one of my jersey's. It does seem like more things happen with Brad in charge than did with Ainge collecting picks. We have a coach that is awful. Is this to make the team better now or is this a future money move for tight pockets? Time will tell. As much as I love Smart he did frustrate me last year. I guess I am happy we still have Gallo or do we? I guess the only Celtics jersey to buy is Tatum. I just read that Gallo and Muscala are both gone so no Gallo.

Coaching will be better with the assistants brought in and with smart being gone. Addition by subtraction

Maruc is my favorite player, no question. No one works harder or is more committed to the win. Sad to see him go.
