This is an idea, not news, but how about a trade with WAS to bring back Muscala to be our back up PF? They have 16 guaranteed contracts currently, from what I can tell, so someone is going to have to go. We could offer a second round pick highly protected and/or well in the future, and use part of the Grant Williams TPE. I am not sure if with waiving Champagnie, if this would put us over the second apron or not.
I would take Gallinari ($6.8M) back also but he doesn't fit the TPE and I am not sure how else we can make that work without giving up something of real value. I guess we could trade Pritchard ($4.0M) and Kornet ($2.4M), I think that is allowed by the rules, but that doesn't help with WAS roster excess. Maybe we would need to add a pick to WAS for this. Gallinari would easily replace anything we were planning on from Gallinari but we would need to find another solid bench guard to replace Pritchard. Replacing Pritchard would probably be easier than finding that elusive back up PF we need. Kendrick Nunn for example, I think is still a FA. Maybe we could sign him to replace Pritchard:
Possible roster:
White Nunn Banton
Brown Brogdon OPEN
Tatum Hauser Waslsh
Porzingis Gallinari Brissett
Williams Horford Griffin
2-ways: Davison, Scrubb, OPEN
