Brissett is already down with a knee injury. They need a legit PF back up.

Already injuries even before the season begins

Do we have any details on this? I gave google a cursory look and nothing popped out.

Hopefully nothing's popped out and this is just a cautionary spot of rest.

Team Canada coach Nick Nurse said today, after the United States defeated Canada 84-68, that Brissett’s knee inexplicably swelled while he was on the phone back home after last week’s New Zealand game. Nobody knows what is causing the swelling. He’s had an MRI.

Team medical personnel has been able to reduce the swelling, Nurse said, and Brissett is improving. But Nurse described the whole situation as “not good.”

He was a homesick Canadian kid chasing a dream at the Findlay Prep basketball factory in Henderson, Nev., a dream rudely interrupted by a broken knee that brought tears and fears.

For Oshae Brissett, there was a time when it seemed that search would last a lifetime.

“I’ve never gone through an injury like that,” he told The Post over the phone. “I was so young, so all those thoughts go through your head: Am I ever gonna play again? … Just stuff like that you think about.”

McKeitha rushed to his side and remembers him crying, so she spent a week comforting and assuring him. He played two more mostly unfulfilling years at Findlay. And then everything changed for him in his last high school year at Athlete Institute in Mono, Ontario.

“Coach [Chris Cobbina] put me in the light to shine, making me the key guy on the team,” Brissett said. “They really prepped me for this moment.”

Oshae Brissett wore ice bags like accessories -- one bag taped to each of his knees, one taped to his left ankle, another fastened to his right hip.

"Seriously," Moyer said. "We have a short roster to begin with. It's crazy. Look at Oshae. He's all wrapped up in ice. Lord have mercy."

To be sure, Brissett was impressively encased in ice. But the SU freshman who scored a game-high 25 points Tuesday said nothing was seriously wrong. His most painful injury this season occurred during the Kansas game, when he rolled his ankle. He's taped it since, he said, and has successfully blocked out any irritation.

"I spend a lot of time on the floor," he said with a smile. "So when anybody does that, they're bound to get a little banged up. It's nothing serious. Just bruises. Nothing that ice, rest can't fix."

Sounds like he has a big heart and battles back and has conquered a lot of adversity already.    But will this make Brad see the light to sign Wood or Oubre?    I bet they worry about Joe being able to handle those two as Woods believe defense if below him and Oubre can be chippy.   I for one feel we could use a chippy guy when the going gets tough as long as they lose their cool.

He won't be the first, or last, giant to have foot problems. This is just a wee bit more important than Brissett's knee.

True. I'm also wondering how nicked up guys were in the past (prior to the primadonna era) when it went un-reported. I think every hang nail catches traction these days.

That being said, I'm concerned about everything related to a Porzingis injury.

After Gallo getting hurt in intl play (and now marking the calendar for when he plays against us, feeling we disowned him), I would find any way possible to not let Zinger play in BS international games.
