So pretty much anything that is going to happen isn't happening any time soon.

Seismic strike? 2nd round picks!? Seismic strike!

Are you kidding me!

I take that as the Celtics are just collecting picks and things for down the road. No destination in sight but hey they have a ton of second round picks to one day use (if ever)

Lets not worry about this season or this team winning a title...let's save money and collect second round picks to never use. Frustrating. And when the trade deadline comes....nothing will be done. Just like last year.

If nothing else the draft threads will be interesting again, unlike 2021 and 2022.

I don't think this report really says anything.  What does "soon" mean.  This week, this off season?  Could mean anything you want it to mean.

The main premise is pretty obvious.  They have the TPE and the picks so they are in position to do a deal, if a good deal presents itself (not exactly seismic).  They have 2 open roster spots plus Champagnie on a NG contract.  Kornet also is NG.  I doubt very much that they have stopped looking or stopped working it.

The team as it stands is fine.  Will be a favorite for a title.  They have some minor depth needs they could address, and probably will along the way.

The only potentially seismic thing would be to trade Brogdon, but I see that as pretty unlikely.

It's a bit hyperbolic, relax lol. We are in a good position from having tradeable draft assets (all of our own 1sts except '28, plus the GSW 1st, and a boatload of 2nds). Compared to other contenders, we have a more direct path to get something done if we wanted. Bucks still owe draft capital for Jrue Holiday, Cavs still owe for Donovan Mitchell. I don't know what deal Philly lost their '25 and '27 firsts in, but they don't have those picks.
2021 Houston Rockets
PG: Kyrie Irving/Patty Mills/Jalen Brunson
SG: OG Anunoby/Norman Powell/Matisse Thybulle
SF: Gordon Hayward/Demar Derozan
PF: Giannis Antetokounmpo/Robert Covington
C: Kristaps Porzingis/Bobby Portis/James Wiseman

Yeah, I was pretty annoyed last year at the lack of quality 3rd stringers. Vonleh, Kornet, Kabagnele, whoever else was there. B Griffin was the only somewhat dependable guy.

The addition of Muscala midseason did a lot to ease those concerns. As did the development of Hauser who grew into a legit NBA player in his 2nd year.

Even if the team starts out in bad shape in terms of deep depth (3rd stringers), there will still be time for PBS to improve things before the playoffs come around.

I think it means trade deadline at the earliest. Maybe even beyond into the next few seasons.

This journalist annoys me. I don't like him acting as a salesman for the Celtics organization. Not his job. He wants to work in sales for thte Celtics; go do that.

Seismic strike armed with 2nd round picks. Bloody hell.

He is trying to sell us a pile of crap.

Y'all do know that second round picks were a key asset for the Suns to acquire Bradley Beal, right?

They are not nothing.

Just note, this is a bunch of nothing aimed at getting us to click the article, which, yes I did.

So, one can only wonder, Siakam maybe?  Caruso hmmm?  Who else?

Heard a podcast with Andrew Brandt where he argued that Washington easily got the best of that deal - reason being that Beal's contract was one of the worst in all of sports.

It was a terrible contract for Washington, which avoided the tax even with two all-stars in their prime, so one former All-Star making that much exiting his prime was disastrous.  For Phoenix, who feels like spending, it was a clear upgrade on Chris Paul.

Jaylen for Luka next summer.  We're going to need those seconds to send out the bad salary Dallas wants to move with Luka to match Jaylen's supermax.

Starting to think they resign Jaylen to trade him next offseason.

I think that is what Brad is stockpiling assets to move him. Don’t think Jaylen staying long term is the plan.
