Fantastic burst from midfield and pass by Tchouameni to Mbappe. France unlucky not to get a 2nd.

Great tackle by Konate to stop that run by Hakimi.

Oh my! Morocco almost score with a bicycle kick.

Theo Hernandez is one heck of a weapon in counter attacks. Incredible pace. The way he can carry the ball 20-30 yards out of the backline to kickstart the counter. Get it up the pitch and up to the forwards like Mbappe or Griezmann. Then you have to worry about Mbappe's pace.

I imagine Theo has a similar relationship at Milan with Rafael Leao.

What a tackle by Amrabat to stop that tremendous run by Mbappe.

That should do it. 2-0 France. Great game. Morocco played great to start the 2nd half but it looked like they have been running on fumes since then. That quick ball movement has disappeared.

France good value for the win. Well deserved. Morocco gave them a good game and should be proud of how they played.

Great game from Morocco. The wins against Belgium Spain and Portugal were totally légit as their place in semi. They deserved the final more than my country despite thé absence of Aguerd or Saiss. Their midfield ate one more time our, where Fofana Tchouameni were lost.
But France become the Germany of the 70s 80s 90,s. Congrat to our solidity and ability to form all time players.
But more contrats to Morocco who played the biggest tournament from an african team.

Morocco should be really proud of themselves. They have inspired an entire generation of not just Moroccans or African/Arabs, but the world that there is a chance to go far. Team USA should take note and build a well-conditioned team around defense with creative players and with the home crowd, they can have a chance to make legitimate noise in 4 years.

Meanwhile, as somebody that is married to a French girl, I hope that France can avenge Brazil and not give Argentina the championship. This finals should be a fun game.

PS. 3rd place game should also be more competitive game too with two countries hoping to get 3rd place. If Morocco wins, they would be the best finisher outside of Europe and South America since USA did it in the first World Cup.

Mouthwatering final, you'd have to say France would be favorites to repeat but you can never count out a team with Messi in it, and Argentina are rounding into form at the right time. France just have too many weapons I feel.

I've been very impressed with them. Especially with the quality of the players missing (Benzema, Kante, Pogba, Hernandez, Kimpembe, and Nkunku).

Griezmann has shown me a level to his game I never expected. He's playing like a world class box-to-box midfielder. Pretty handy.

Their depth is incredible. And yes it's been remarkable to see Griezmann reinvent himself.

BUT...Messi is Messi, and you only need to create a few chances and convert them and he's pretty handy at that. It's going to be a great final.

Messi is he indeed. He and Mbappe are probably the two most dynamic players at the WC. Argentina also have some good other players that have been overshadowed by Messi, like Otamendi, their keeper, De Paul and others.

Argentina up 1-0 on a penalty kick

But man how many soft penalty kicks have there been this tournament?? That really didn’t look like a penalty he just fell…
