I feel like these are the top two teams in the QFs. Maybe Brazil but probably not. In some ways it is a shame that one of these two will get knocked out today.

Nice to see Kane take that long shot on Lloris. I am surprised how few players have taken long distance shots (outside the box) across all these QF games especially given how many teams have packed the defensive lines and made it very difficult to play fluid attacking football.

England have done well since conceding. Taking the game to France.

Saka draws the penalty kick. Kane converts! 1-1 now

France's front four are too isolated. The DMCs and full backs are not getting forward quickly enough to support the forwards. France are ending up playing 4 vs 7 when trying to score.

The the two holding mids and two full backs need to help them. Far too slow / reluctant to join the action.

Harry Maguire has been so much more comfortable on the ball than either of the two Dutch CBs or two Portugese CBs. Maguire can pass it short, pass it long, carry the ball, make long runs. So good on the ball for a CB. Stones has been good with the ball too.

Giroud gives France the lead!

Southgate responds by putting on Mason Mount, huh? Do not like that sub. Not a time for worker bees.

edit: Ah okay, Mount for Henderson. That is okay. More attacking worker bee for other worker bee.

Wow Giroud! 2-1 France

It's a shame one of these teams have to lose today. Both look fantastic and well-deserving to be in this spot

THIS REF BLOWS! He's been screwing England this entire game. But thank god they are checking that, that is 100000% a penalty kick for England

Ugh, Kane misses!

I was worried about him taking a 2nd penalty. Does he go the same way or does he switch sides? Guys start overthinking. Make a mess.

I did not even realize Raheem Sterling was on the pitch until now. He has been quiet.

No Grealish today.

Mount instead of Grealish.
Rashford instead of Grealish.
Sterling instead of Grealish.
