Le Injury does not play BAD defense.

He plays no defense .  Zero .  Stands and watches .

So his glorified offensive game is hollow ,  self centered,  and killing his team of any chance of  winning a game .

He scores 30 and gives up 30 .   Worthless.

Old lady Buss must have been on the bottle when she extended Lebron and the GM

All James wants now is to break Kareem record & make more money which he does not need cause he’s a billionaire.. I lost all respect for him when he wanted max money instead of taking a cut to get better players in to help win just like Aaron Rodgers
C/PF-Horford, Baynes, Noel, Theis, Morris,
SF/SG- Tatum, Brown, Hayward, Smart, Semi, Clark
PG- Irving, Rozier, Larkin

I'm struggling to imagine a world where James, who has won four championships, is somehow less committed to winning than Aaron Rodgers, who has won one ring.

Lakers will tank. Just wait for the inevitable "Davis hurt something and is out long term" and then they'll find ways to just blame Westbrook while Lebron chases his own records and doesn't really care about the team success either

Yeah, I think some of the LeBron hate gets a bit over the top.  He is absolutely an NBA legend.  Arguably the best player to play the game ever (not saying I would vote that way but it is arguable that he is).  All of that "The Decision" nonsense made me want to puke and I think he has meddled too much in GM duties along the way but I am glad that I was able to watch his career over the years, even if I was generally rooting against him.

Why tank? They don't own their pick. Well, they do, but the Pellies can swap. Tanking solves nothing for them.

They traded the farm for Davis.  Seemed like a good deal at the time.  The "tank strategy" for the Lakers is to finish with the exact same record as NOP.  If they are worse, they lose the pick anyway.   NOP is 6-5 right now.  Ingram and Zion have missed a few games.  If they can keep those two on the court, they are going to win games.

In hindsight is it a good deal?

They won a title, so the answer is probably automatically yes.  But, Ingram + Lonzo + Hart + Dyson Daniels + 2023 swap rights + 2024 OR 2025 #1 is a heck of a package.  I think the Lakers also traded away the rights to DeAndre Hunter in that trade.

Lakers got their title and Pelicans made out like bandits.  Probably consider it a win/win but Lakers paid a dear price for that title.

Still, a title is a title.

Yeah, I remember that debate was ongoing for the Red Sox in the Hanley + Sanchez for Beckett + Lowell trade.  We won a title, so it was awesome.  Meanwhile, Hanley was an absolute stud for the Marlins, and Sanchez had his moments.

Yeah, that was the proverbial win-win trade.

If the Lakers weren't so incompetent the last 2 summers I don't think anyone would be talking about this, but the fact that the Lakers have so royally bungled the last 2 off seasons is why this is being questioned.

But the full trade was

Ingram
Ball
Hart
Isaac Bonga
Jemerrio Jones
Mo Wagner
#4 (which the Pelicans traded to Atlanta and moved back, while Atlanta took Hunter)
2022 1st - #8 - Dyson Daniels
2023 Swap
2024 or 2025 1st

If the 2022 1st ended up being the 20's and the 23 and future pick ended up being in the 20's, I don't think this sort of thing is really being discussed, but the Lakers so bungled basically every move since winning the title, they are giving the Pelicans high level draft capital still.  That is the problem.
2023 Historical Draft - Brooklyn Nets - 9th pick

Bigs - Pau, Amar'e, Issel, McGinnis, Roundfield
Wings - Dantley, Bowen, J. Jackson
Guards - Cheeks, Petrovic, Buse, Rip

Never understood that Pelican draft day deal to move down from DeAndre Hunter for Jaxson Hayes and parts. Pellies could have had Zion and Darius Garland or DeAndre Hunter out of that draft. Just a dumb move.

That is why I said "at the time".  The perspective on things like this tends to change.  At the time of the trade, you don't know that Davis is going to be injured as much as he has been.  It is a risk that should be considered by a team making a trade like this but it is uncertain at best.  This trade was looking pretty good even a year after the trade was made.  Now not so much.  I think there are a lot of teams that would have made this trade and taken the chance on Davis.
