Missed this in the Kyrie stuff, but if anyone had 'early November' for their guess for Simmons trade discussions to start swirling - congratulations, you were right:

I'd still acquire him, but we can't make the money work (with anyone I'd be willing to trade).  Shame we don't have 15-17 million of extra salary sitting on the team.

Simmons for Kennard, Covington, Boston works financially.  I think that would be an interesting team for both the Nets and Clippers

$35-40M/year for 6pts/6rebs/7ast? No thanks.

Warriors rested their starters and lost again. Poole’s contract hasn’t translated so far. Should they trade Dray and let guys like Kuminga get more playing time?

Wiseman continues to disappoint. Only 17min when they are resting their starters? Not a good sign.

Missing Gary Payton Jr. His defense was a game-changing force off that bench. Now they have lost their only plus guard defender and they have no proper backup PG to run the offense when Steph rests.

Looks like they wanted Jordan Poole to be that backup PG/SG but that isn't working out. The guy is a gunner. He wants to shoot. Not pass. You can see why they wanted him at PG given how small he is and allowing them to stay bigger on the wing defensively but it just isn't working out.

Their young guys are killing them. Wiseman, Kuminga and Moody. No real roles or minutes for any of them. Donte DiVincenzo and JayMychal Green look their most dependable bench options after Jordan Poole. They could make a solid 8 man rotation.

I like Kuminga and Moody but hard to see where their minutes come from if Poole has to play SG and Klay SG/SF in order to fit a proper backup PG into the rotation. Really they need to trade Klay or Poole to free up some playing time for those young guys. Or trade those young guys for more vets. But trying to keep them all and make it work at the same time isn't working well for GSW.

Jazz pummeling the Lakers in LA at the half. Only AD is balling. Westbrook coming off fine off the bench.

Bucks remain undefeated. Blazers take out the Suns. Jazz dismantled the Lakers. Crazy night

He is coming off back surgery.  I think he will go back more to what he was when he starts getting healthier physically and I think he'd better not on the Nets.  So something like 14/8/8/ with versatile 1st team all defense type stuff.  The back has been a real issue early in the year, I think that has been the bigger issue than the mental stuff.

You're probably the only guy that wants Simmons at this point

There is no way for Boston to acquire him for what I'd give up.  He makes too much money, but in a vacuum sure, I'd take Simmons.  I think he will get back to All League Defense with solid rebounding and passing numbers.  Basically think he could be a Draymond Green type player, which is a valuable player to have on a team.

Former NBA guard Ben Gordon has been arrested after a Chicago McDonald's security guard was punched in the face, police said.

Gordon, 39, has been charged with misdemeanor battery causing bodily harm and battery making physical contact, the Chicago Tribune reported Saturday.

Gordon, who played for four teams during his NBA career, was arrested at about 3:30 a.m. Friday when police responded to a report of a disturbance by a man who was being escorted from the McDonald's.

A 29-year-old man was hit in the face and thrown to the ground. A 21-year-old man was pushed and also thrown to the ground. Both men refused medical help.

Police said Gordon was arrested at the scene.

Gordon was charged last month with assault, resisting arrest, contempt and child endangerment in New York for allegedly punching his young son at LaGuardia Airport.

According to the Queens district attorney's office, witnesses, including an American Airlines employee, saw Gordon yell at his son and punch him several times in the face after the boy dropped a book on the ground.

Gordon later confirmed to police that it was his son. Gordon also allegedly assaulted officers as they attempted to handcuff him and put him in a patrol car.

Sounds like Gordon needs some mental health counseling.

Yeah.  In front of a ton of witnesses, too.  Something isn't right in Gordon's head.

Kelly Olynk so far this season in 10 starts for the Jazz:

27 Min
13 PPG
4 Reb
3.5 Assts
1.5 Stls
56% FG
59% 3pts (avg 2 mpg)
67% FT

He’s fitting nicely into Hardy’s system, just like he would have fit nicely into the Celtics now expired TPE.

Ben Gordon wrote a very good article in the player's tribune about the problems he has been going through and the mental health help he has received and continues to receive and the ongoing struggles despite that help.

He had been arrested a bunch of times prior to this. Commited to a mental health institution. Lot of stuff.

He is struggling something awful.

Lakers lose again and seemed to bench all their starters with the game still somewhat in doubt. Buddy hield and Myles turner are not fixing this.

Ty Jerome had a fantastic game for them in relief of those starters.

I still think he could be an excellent backup PG for a playoff team.
