Embiid with another monster performance. 59pts/11rebs/8ast. Yeesh.
I was watching that game and he was incredible, but the 76ers can’t ride him like this. It is why he is out of gas or injured every year in the playoffs. The problem is this win brought them to .500 and harden is still out so they kind of have to.
Philly don't need to ride Embiid like this. They have two 20ppg level scorers even without Harden in Maxey and Tobias Harris.
Their problem is they do not have a team-orientated offense which is in part Embiid's fault as he only understands how to be an individual dominator (like Moses Malone) rather than scorer/facilitator (like Shaq or Kareem). Nevermind a true facilitator (like Bill Walton or Bill Russell).
It is difficult to have a team-based offense built around a post-up option in today's NBA when that guy is reluctant passer. It stagnates the offense and freezes your teammates out of the game.
One can blame Doc some for this but frankly it is more Embiid's fault. It is his limitations as a player. His lack of understanding of team offense, of how to involve his teammates, of how to make a whole team function as opposed to having the team function to service his desires alone.
