Can Miami use its TPMLE now that they've dumped Oladipo?

I wonder if they'll make a run at Grant with either the TPMLE or their $9m trade exception

The Celtics can always match and trade Grant later.  Anyone know the exact date they'd need to get under the 2nd apron?  If they signed Grant there would be no TPE but at 5m who are you going to get better then Grant?

Bobby Manning: Just talked to Grant Williams at his Boston b-ball camp & he said he isn’t stressing the free agency period as it continues: “For me, it’s a matter of making sure you’re in a great position for the rest of your life,” he told me. 3 hours ago – via Twitter RealBobManning

I think it’s reasonable to consider that a person like Grant Williams may approach things differently than some others would. First off, I don’t believe Grant ever experienced poverty the way many other NBA players have. His mom is an electrical engineer with NASA with an extraordinary resume and father a talented musician with an interesting and diverse background including basketball. Parents separated when he was young but it sounds like Grant benefited from the talents of both parents - experienced world travel through his mom’s work, and had access to unique learning experiences.  He seems to be brilliant in his own right - completed a 4 year business degree in 3 years, plays multiple musical instruments, and was a nationally ranked chess player at one point.

All this to suggest that this is possibly not a person who worries a lot about what will become of him if he doesn’t thoroughly maximize his earning potential in the NBA.  I’m not suggesting that I think he’ll take much less for a better life circumstance but he might be more likely than others to take a little less.  Just idle speculation, but if Grant loves his current situation and offers aren’t that much more than Cs, he might just stay.  On the other hand, Grant seems like a very curious guy who would probably embrace a new opportunity if it looked like the right one.

Zero chance Grant signs for the TMLE. Zero chance Boston declines to match if he did.

Yeah. I'm just wondering if his market might bottom out and he takes a shot on a high profile team where he'll get minutes.

Or maybe I'm just being paranoid that Riley will concoct yet another way to screw us

He could try to force a sign-and-trade tho. Unlikely i know. But i really hate the Heat so it makes me worry

And I'm not sure the C's see him as part of the future here

Though in a sign and trade scenario at least we would get a TPE back. Are there any restrictions on TPE's given our cap situation?

Grants Qualifying offer is 8.4 million, not sure why'd he'd take a 5 million non-tax deal over just accepting the qualifying offer and trying again next year as a RFA.

Look at what Spoelstra just did for Strus and Vincent though. He and Riley just talked Richardson into taking the vet minimum

Did spoelstra guide their hand while they were hitting shots? Because that's mostly why they are getting paid.

Satan guided their shots.

And Pat Riley is a close friend to Satan

Look at the bright if he signs in MIA, you have a guy you can attack if you're Brown or Tatum or a big.

He can't defend real bigs, he would to be too slow to guard Tatum and Brown.   He has been an average defender for his career and was a below average one last year.    We lose a body to throw at people, who can't rebound but could shoot.

It won't give MIA an edge over us.   Porzingas is going to negate their zone completely.

I hope you're right.

But Riley is probably sticking needles into a Porzingis-themed voodoo doll as we speak

Michael Scotto: The Hornets are strongly considering an offer sheet to Celtics restricted free agent Grant Williams, sources told @hoopshype . Williams has also received interest from the Mavericks. Charlotte is also in discussions with its restricted free agent PJ Washington on a possible deal. – via Twitter MikeAScotto

At some point you have to blame the performance on the court on the players on the court. Every loss is not the coach's fault and every win isn't because of the players.

The Hornets are that team that draft 5 Qbs in fantasy football.
