Donavan Mitchell available per Woj

here comes the trade for Mitchell posts... But I do have a weird feeling we're going to be in the mix some how on this.

We won’t get Mitchell but I suspect Pritchard will somehow end up in Utah for a heavily protected FRP that we can package with TPE to get backup center who is decent. Ainge values Pritchard more than other GMs.

Based on what, the fact that he drafted Pritchard? He also drafted the majority of the C’s rotational players.

But they’re not likely available while Pritchard probably is

Why would Pritchard likely be available but not Grant? Both seem to be 3rd stringers with the addition of Brogdon and Gallo. Pritchard also has another year left on his current contract and Grant will be a RFA after this season.

Grant part of rotation. Pritchard was on fringe. Even more so with Brogdon trade.

The Timberwolves traded two rotation players, four picks, and two prospects for Gobert.  Ainge will absolutely want rotation players in return.

I don’t think Mitchell is an option for the Celtics at present.  Give it two months for Brogdon to be trade eligible and it might be a different story, although still probably not.

footey said Pritchard for a 1st.  Had nothing to do with Mitchell. Then use the 1st to get a backup center
2023 Historical Draft - Brooklyn Nets - 9th pick

Bigs - Pau, Amar'e, Issel, McGinnis, Roundfield
Wings - Dantley, Bowen, J. Jackson
Guards - Cheeks, Petrovic, Buse, Rip

So looking around at teams that would make sense for Mitchell and would still be good enough post-trade.  These are the best trades I could come up with

Miami - Herro, Jovic, Strus, Lowry, Robinson, 3 1st's for Mitchell, Conley, Clarkson

Memphis - Jackson, LaRavia, 3 or 4 1st's for Mitchell

Philadelphia - Harris, Maxey, Thybulle, 2 1st's for Mitchell, Conley

New York is also obviously going to be interested this is the best I could come up with

New York - Barrett, Reddish, Toppin, Quickley, 4 1st's for Mitchell

Then I have a sleeper team who I don't think is interested, but would be a fascinating team if they did this

Cleveland - Sexton (sign + trade), Okoro, Agjabi, 3 1st's for Mitchell

I see Donovan Mitchell as Miami's backup prize if they strike out on Kevin Durant.

Not sure about Mitchell and Jimmy Butler. Both guys need the ball a lot. Bam needs touches to be the facilitator as well. That trio doesn't feel right to me. I get the feeling they'll get less of a boost from that move than they expect to.

Miami, Memphis and Philly would be much better off using those assets to go after KD.  Why would Memphis want Mitchell?  Morant and Mitchell would be a bad pairing.  As for the Sixers, I'd rather have Maxey than Mitchell straight up.  Besides Mitchell isn't going to be happy playing 2nd fiddle to Embiid.  As for the trade, Harden, Mitchell and Conley is a weird guard combo and the Sixers would be really weak at the 3/4.

Mitchell to New York is the obvious destination.

Hmm…. RJ, Toppin, Rose and 3 firsts?

Or maybe Danny just wants draft capital? Fournier, Rose and 7 First/Pick swaps

I don't think NY will give up Barrett, and Danny is rumored to primarily be interested in picks.

I'm going to guess Fournier + one of Reddish / Toppin + Grimes + at least three firsts

I'd like to see Steven get in on this if possible. Take back usable player like Gay or Reddish. Just too bad there wasn't an Al replacement that they could snag.

Is there a way to help facilitate the TPE, not take anyone back to create a new TPE to use until next off season?  Give up a future 2nd to do it.

The Knicks have 8 1st round picks they can trade and it might take all of them, especially if they don't include Barrett.

Sounds like a lot for Donovan Mitchell.

Hard to see any offers with a better single young talent than RJ Barrett. I don't think NYK will need to pay big beyond RJ.

The second package is too many 1sts for an All-Star talent and I mean All-Star talent vs All-NBA or MVP talent. You could make that argument for a top All-NBA or MVP guy. A franchise player level talent. Mitchell is not that.

I feel either one of those trade offers is something NYK would live to regret. I just do not see Donovan Mitchell having that type of value.

Never bid against yourself.  No way is Mitchell worth 4 picks and 4 pick swaps.
