The Knicks have 8 1st round picks they can trade and it might take all of them, especially if they don't include Barrett.
Never bid against yourself.  No way is Mitchell worth 4 picks and 4 pick swaps.
Gobert just got them a 2022 draftee, 4 basically unprotected 1st's, a swap, and several useful youngish players.  Mitchell is worth more than Gobert.
2023 Historical Draft - Brooklyn Nets - 9th pick

Bigs - Pau, Amar'e, Issel, McGinnis, Roundfield
Wings - Dantley, Bowen, J. Jackson
Guards - Cheeks, Petrovic, Buse, Rip

Didn't Danny learn that accumulating picks have diminishing return?  If Utah has 3 picks every year for the next 5 years, how can you make use of all those picks.  Sure, I get that he will flip some of them but rosters can only absorb so many players.  Plus you can stash a few, but you reach a point where you just can't do anything with the picks.

I get the idea that more rolls of the dice is better, but if he got 4 picks for Gobert, does he really need 4 more from the Knicks?  I guess all the MIN picks are odd years (2023, 2025, 2027, 2029).  Maybe he can get the Knicks on even years.  Knicks 2024, 2026, 2028?  Plus they have DET's for 2023.  That would be quite a stock pile, 2-3 picks per year for 7 years.  15 or so players just in the first round.  Still feels like too many to realistically incorporate into a roster.

Not necessarily. It is a lot easier to build a high functioning team around Gobert than it is Donovan Mitchell.

I would see their value as more similar than better than one another with a lot of variability in the eye of the beholder (for both players as both are highly flawed).

Utah got lucky with MIN & Gobert. Maybe they will get lucky again with Mitchell; maybe they won't.

I expect there to be a good market for Donovan Mitchell but not a great market. I don't see Utah getting a massive package for him.

I see BKN going through the same thing with Durant right now. Durant is just too old to get a massive package anymore. In Mitchell's case, he is too flawed / unexceptional.

Mitchell is a young All-Star caliber guard but he is not All-NBA. He is not MVP caliber. He is a 6-1 SG. Not a true PG. Not a two way player. Not a true wing player. He is a very good player but he is not a great player. He is not a true franchise talent.

No he doesn't need the picks, but NY doesn't have much to offer outside of picks.  They have Barrett who looks like he could be really good, though not great.  They have Robinson who is who is he as this point, but I'm not sure they can trade him.  They have a recent lottery pick in Toppin, who hasn't shown much.  And then they have guys like Reddish, Quickley, and Grimes.

I mean outside of Barrett, they don't really have much to offer except draft picks.  So they have to offer the draft picks.

I agree that Mitchell is worth more than Gobert, but I also think Gobert was a massive overpay, so I could see Mitchell fetching less.

Should Brad give Danny a call? If so, which player(s) would be your target(s)?

Take your pick.  But you know that Danny is not going to give away any of these players.  He is going to work to win every trade.

Donovan Mitchell
Mike Conley
Bojan Bogdanovic
Malik Beasley
Jordan Clarkson
Patrick Beverley
Rudy Gay
Nickeil Alexander-Walker
Jarred Vanderbilt
Walker Kessler
Leandro Bolmaro
Udoka Azubuike
Jared Butler

Setting Mitchell aside as I just don't see him coming to Boston, Rudy Gay is a possibility I guess.  Fits the need of that insurance wing.  Cost is not excessive at $6.2M (plus tax of course), with a player option season after (ouch).  I don't recall if I saw him plays last season but I assume he is still a useful player?  That second season may be the poison pill.

Unquestionably Jordan Clarkson, run a small ball second unit with a flame thrower off the bench. TPE gets used too.

If Clarkson is only shooting 31.8% from 3PT like last season, I'd much rather roll with Brogdon and White out there.

Yeah, his 3 pt % has been declining for 4 seasons but his attempts have been increasing (for the most part).  His contract is $13M with a player options for the season after.  Too rich for me if I was the GM.

Another option that I think some posters seem to like is to try and get Beasley for a pick or maybe Bergarin and just kind of stock pile with the idea that you trade Beasley or White or someone later.  Beasley is expiring but with a club option (best of both worlds).  He could be very useful in a future trade if you want to take that risk.

Wouldn't be against swapping White for Bogdanovic + pick(s). Obviously, the Jazz have no incentive to send us pick(s). It would have to be a 3-way.

I don't think we need all 4 of Smart, Brodgon, White, Pritchard. I'd love us to trade one of them for a starting-caliber swing. Preferably a 2-way player, but 2-way swings don't grow on trees. Bogdanovic is a lethal shooter.

PG: Smart - Brogdon - Pritchard
SG: Brown - Brogdon
SF: Bogdanovic - Tatum
PF: Tatum - Grant - Gallo
C: Timelord - Horford

The $64M bench.  All in baby.

Pritchard shot 41% from 3.  Clarkson only 31%.  Just to offer some perspective.  I know that Pritchard is only 6'-1" but it just doesn't seem like we need Clarkson.
