From Yahoo Sports: Lakers will need to send out first-round pick for Kyrie Irving sources say

Do they have any available (per the Stepien Rule) in the next four years?

And really, that’s all it would take (assuming that a negative-asset like Westbrook is included in order to make the math work)?

It’s hard to believe that would be the best offer.  Even with Kyrie being Kyrie.

Regardless of his talent, he's a damaged goods 1-year rental.  Unless he wants to play for a team, I wouldn't even give up a late 1st for him and even then the team would need to be desperate.  I haven't heard of any other team that he wants to play for other than Lakers and they are definitely desperate.  Their earliest tradeable pick is 2026 if NOP takes their 2024 pick.  Otherwise it would be 2027.

Full rebuild in Utah?.  Wish the cs had the assets to get him.  Big 3 of DM, JT and JB.  Yep.

NYK seem to be a good spot.  Would the Pelicans or Thunder get involved?  What does this do to the Durant sweepstakes?  Man what a crazy off-season already.

here comes the trade for Mitchell posts... But I do have a weird feeling we're going to be in the mix some how on this.

If I'm Danny my dream scenario would be to trade Mitchell to Miami for Herro (S&T), Jovik, Yurtseven, and at least a couple of 1st rounders; however, I don't even know if that trade is possible for a host of reasons - one being I just can't see Danny Ainge and Pat Riley doing business together lol.

I don’t think Thibbs would approve of a starting backcourt with two 6’1” guards. Miami or Dallas seem like a better fit.

At some point you have to blame the performance on the court on the players on the court. Every loss is not the coach's fault and every win isn't because of the players.

Smart decision. D.Mitchell's trade value will only go down without Gobert there to do the heavy lifting on defense and carry the team into the playoffs.

Mitchell is not a player to rebuild around. He is not good enough. He was an excellent fit next to Gobert (and vice-versa). Without Gobert and without a replacement talent, Utah is going down the toilet next season.

We won’t get Mitchell but I suspect Pritchard will somehow end up in Utah for a heavily protected FRP that we can package with TPE to get backup center who is decent. Ainge values Pritchard more than other GMs.

When word of this came out, someone in the national media (I forget who) suggested that Pat Riley dropped that to tweak Ainge.  Apparently not the case.  Even with Mitchell and Gobert, that team wasn't getting over the hump.

Based on what, the fact that he drafted Pritchard? He also drafted the majority of the C’s rotational players.

I like it. A second team going all out in the Wembenyama sweepstakes if they trade Mitchell for a similar package to the Gobert one, alongside San Antonio.

Reminds me a bit of the Tim Duncan draft.
'23 Historical Draft: Orlando Magic.

PG: Terry Porter (90-91) / Steve Francis (00-01)
SG: Joe Dumars (92-93) / Jeff Hornacek (91-92) / Jerry Stackhouse (00-01)
SF: Brandon Roy (08-09) / Walter Davis (78-79)
PF: Terry Cummings (84-85) / Paul Millsap (15-16)
C: Chris Webber (00-01) / Ralph Sampson (83-84) / Andrew Bogut (09-10)

Why would Pritchard likely be available but not Grant? Both seem to be 3rd stringers with the addition of Brogdon and Gallo. Pritchard also has another year left on his current contract and Grant will be a RFA after this season.
