It's hard to deal for a guy who wants out before his contract even begins. If he's a one year or half year rental it will be hard to give up high dollar assets.

Podcast segment they took it from here: https://streamable.com/d5kqmd

But like... do the Wolves even have 4 firsts to deal after the Gobert trade? Obviously either way it's an awful overpay, but this doesn't really pass the sniff test for me.

I doesn't look like Goodwill is the type to be breaking big news like this so it doesn't really pass the sniff test for me.
I'm bitter.

Lol.  So, presumably the Celts would have to deal Tatum and Brown, plus all of our future picks as well?

Maybe a subtle message to Durant that if he really sticks to his trade demand, he could end up in MIN on a bad team.

Hey, you can ask for anything you want...

Seriously, though, it does seem like Brooklyn is overestimating what it can get for Durant. He'll still be on the roster at the beginning of the year, and BKN will hold out for the trade deadline to send him to a team that is willing to mortgage its future to get over the hump this year.

Then Durant can just sit out the year and do something else since Nets be asking for two all-stars before picks and other pieces.

Yeah, that’s a pretty ridiculous proposal.  Is there a player in the league you’d send Towns, and Edwards and picks for?  Maybe Giannis, and even then I’m not completely sure.

Seems like Brooklyn did Utah a favor, because in comparison Gobert’s price seemed completely reasonable.

I'm not sure Utah received anything of value for Gobert. They received essentially bench players to make the salaries work. And if Minnesota keeps on improving, those picks may be in the 20's, which as Celtics fans know, are basically useless.

The Celtics fans whose team had four guys picked in the 20s as key parts of their playoff rotation? Vanderbilt and Beasley are also legit starting calibre guys, Beverley is a useful role player, and Walker Kessler was just taken at #22.

All that, plus four first round picks, plus getting out of the Gobert contract, is a win. The first round picks in and of themselves might not be super valuable, but they can be packaged for something that is.

Lakers fans should be pretty freaked out about how badly this off-season has gone so far. Their roster is terrible.

G: Russell Westbrook, Lonnie Walker, DJ Augustin
G: Troy Brown, Austin Reeves
F: LeBron James, Toscano-Anderson
F: Anthony Davis
C: Thomas Bryant, Damian Jones

Last year's trainwreck of a roster with old timers (Dwight, Melo, Ellington), one quality role player (Monk) and low quality shooters (Avery, Bazemore, Stanley Johnson, THT) was far superior to what LeBron is looking at right now.

Looking at the limited options left in FA and with LAL already having spent their TMLE on Lonnie Walker, it's hard to see things getting much better for LA this summer. Their one shot is a trade for Kyrie and/or Durant but even then they will have no supporting cast capable of making a run until next season 2023-24 at the earliest.

I mean ... that team has only 2 average or better players on their entire roster. Now admittedly, those 2 players (Bron, AD) are pretty dang amazing but they have no help. There is only so much 2 players can do!

Can those 2 guys get LAL to 40-45 wins next year? And that is if they are healthy. If they have injury problems again, well that 30-35 win season will be no outlier.

I was pretty baffled they went for Walker with their biggest free agent money offer.
