Marc Spears reported that the Warriors are interested in reacquiring KD. Oh boy.

Wiggins + Wiseman + Kuminga + Moody + three #1s would be solid.

I've seen a few variations on this package, but I think that Wiggins can't be traded to Brooklyn while it has Ben Simmons sitting on its bench dressed as a clown on its team, due to a rookie trade extension rule:

https://www.si.com/nba/2022/07/02/nba-rule-limits-star-the-players-nets-can-take-in-kevin-durant-trade#:~:text=The%20NBA%27s%20designated%20rookie%20rule,receive%20one%20from%20a%20trade.

Ah.  I didn’t realize Wiggins was a DRE player.

Jaylen really might be the best possible return, unless they deal Simmons for garbage.

Would GSW go cold-blooded - make the deal larger, include Draymond for Ben Simmons?

That avoids the Designated Rookie Extension problem.

So GSW would have younger Ben Simmons as the new Draymond & KD as the new Wiggins. BKN would get Wiggins, young prospects, picks and probably be looking to off-load Draymond to a contender elsewhere.

I'm not sure GSW has it in them to be that cold blooded to someone who has meant so much to them ... but ... Draymond is getting older ... and that Durant fellow is pretty good.
I see no reason whatsoever for Brooklyn to do that deal.

Solid young player.  Good shooting PF.  Somebody should claim him on waivers.

For us he may not fit a short-term roster need.

Strange. He made genuine improvements as a scorer and shooter this most recent season. Turned it over less too.

I guess he's 24 and plays a similar position to Holmgren, Robinson-Earl, Poku, Dieng and Dort, but I always thought he was at worst as good as Bazley

So for MIA to be able to trade Herro, Lowry & Bam for Durant & Kyrie, a 3rd team would need to be included into the deal with Bam heading elsewhere and a comparable young star heading to BKN.

Then you could have a workable deal.
Or Brooklyn could more Simmons in a deal before completing the trade with Miami
I'd probably do Bam for Brown straight up.  Brown can go to Brooklyn in that trade and Boston gets Bam.  I'd probably try to move Rob ina separate deal, but I think Bam elevates the team more than Brown

I thought Bam was overrated when dealing against true centers like Embiid, Jokic, or against stronger post duos like Giannis/Lopez or Horford/Timelord? Though he'd be an upgrade over Horford in terms of age tho.
Bam is small, he can't guard the true behomoths, but he I still think he'd work better along side Tatum than Brown does and they are comparable talents.
2023 Historical Draft - Brooklyn Nets - 9th pick

Bigs - Pau, Amar'e, Issel, McGinnis, Roundfield
Wings - Dantley, Bowen, J. Jackson
Guards - Cheeks, Petrovic, Buse, Rip

I liked Roby coming out in the draft for his physical profile. I take him as the 14th man in an instant. Shot 44% from three last year and averaged 10 points a game. He brings some of the same stuff I like about Kessler Edwards.

I wonder if Al has any good insight on him.

Oh, good point.

If ever we can easily claim him off waivers right? I think he’s a good risk to take. We’ve been waiting for “The Decision” by Thomas Bryant too long.

How do waiver claims work? Do we absorb his $1.9M contract?

Neither Roby nor Edwards is a 5. Both are forwards.

Oh ok, so TB would still be in play if ever. Anyway, looking at his stats last March/April, he had some pretty good games including a 30 poimt performance on March 29. Of course the Thunder were tanking hard but still. FT looks like a major problem though. His 3 pointer looks decent.

Yes, we’d absorb his contract and OKC would be off the hook.

We are also pretty far back in line on waiver claims — my feeling is if he’s worth claiming someone else will have, and if he’s not, we should pass.

League should like ban or veto this trade lol

They may be interested, but I can’t see Brooklyn wanting anything Golden State would offer.

Wiseman, Kuminga, Moody, Poole…they are all nice prospects, but none are guaranteed all-star level production.

Brooklyn are without their own upcoming draft picks, so they have zero incentive to go into a full rebuild.

A couple nice pieces in there, but I agree, no guarantees. But Brooklyn can always pick up superstars in the FA market. All they need is for a couple of players to decide that they want to play together in New York at some point in the future and Brooklyn will be back on top. Sadly, same can be said for other attractive cities, eg LA and Miami.

Wiggins + Wiseman + Kuminga + Moody + three #1s would be solid.

If I were KD, I’d say I’d rather retire than play another game in GS. Can you imagine being the biggest beta in the history of all sports to Steph Curry? 😬 I say no way he goes for it. But anything is possible. That is a heckuva package for the Nets, though. They’d just need to get a third team to take Wiggins (DRE), and someone solid goes to the Nets instead. Hard to top that package…
