I wonder if LAL will start Thomas Bryant. Put AD back at PF and LeBron back at SF.

Although how they'll make that spacing work with Westbrook ... I don't know.

He’ll get the chance to start, reportedly.

Free agent Thomas Bryant has reached an agreement with the Los Angeles Lakers on a one-year deal and will be given opportunity to win starting center position, league sources tell @YahooSports:

Not losing sleep over this one.

I was wondering what the Spurs looked like after trading Dejounte Murray, picking up Roby and re-upping Dieng.

G: Tre Jones
G: Devin Vassell, Josh Richardson, Romeo Langford, Primo
F: Keldon Johnson, D.McDermott, Bates-Diop
F: Sochan, Roby
C: Poeltl, Zach Collins, Dieng

They have a few other names on their roster page but I don't who they are. Roberd Woodard, DJ Stewart, Devontae Cacok, Joe Wieskamp, Malaki Branham, Blake Wesley. I assume some of these guys are draft picks, trade throw-ins and riff-raff from last year's debacle of a season.

It is a strange and untalented team.

Keldon Johnson is the only quality starter on their team. Then Poeltl and maybe Josh Richardson as the 2nd and 3rd best players. No PGs on the squad other than a guy who played 16mpg last year and can't shoot. Sochan, the rookie, is an interesting young dynamic defensive forward. Vassell, two years into his career, still hasn't shown much.

Candidate for worst team in the league?
Branham was the 20th pick in the draft.  One and done from Ohio State (Big Ten rookie of the year, All Freshman Team, and 3rd Team All Conference).  Also just another kid from Akron (and yes he even went to Lebron's high school).  Nice shooting touch.  Athletic.  He should be a pretty decent pro.

Wesley was the 25th pick in the draft out of Notre Dame.  Also a one and done (ACC 2nd Team and All Freshman Team).  Not as good a shooter as Branham, but got to the line at a pretty good clip.

Rest of the guys have no real potential, though Cacok and Wieskamp were on the Spurs last year. Cacok actually played a game for the Lakers the year they won the title and was on their team the following year as well before the Spurs - so he may actually have a championship ring.
Yeah, Branham and Wesley are both solid rookie guys. There does seem to be a bit of redundancy though, lots of guard/wing types on that roster.

Cacok is an NBA champ, yes. Hilarious. However, despite the very small sample size last season, he played genuinely really good defence. Might be worth keeping.

Given the minutes Richardson could average 20 PPG with that lineup!
Yup

The Lakers have added Lonnie Walker IV and Thomas Bryant.  We have added Brogdon and Gallinari.

The Lakers will be good if healthy (big IF), even with Westbrook, but these deals are not moving any needles for them.

It's more the chance to start and rebuild his value.

Yeah, I don't see this as Bryant wanting the Hollywood lime light.  The Lakers are a contending team and if he gets himself in shape and can play, there is an impactful role for him on that team.  On the Celtics, that role is there next season, after Horford likely retires, but he would be a bench player this season for the Celtics.

Miami are overloaded on the wings

SG: Max Strus, Tyler Herro, Victor Oladipo
SF: Jimmy Butler, Caleb Martin, Duncan Robinson

They need a trade to even out that team. They have nobody at PF and none of those guys are well suited to playing PF. Jimmy would be their best option. Caleb Martin (6-5 205lbs) or Vic Oladipo (6-4, 215lbs, long) is the 2nd biggest wing.

Herro is the obvious guy and Durant is the obvious target. If that doesn't come to fruition ... I wonder what they will try to do because right now they have 6 wings who they consider rotation caliber players without enough minutes to go around. And no PFs on the team.

Still unsigned per the list that I checked (Spotrac).

I have no interest in him for the Celtics.

Maybe the Lakers should sign him.

Remember that time last summer when we were concerned we’d get outbid to keep him by even the MLE?

Yes, and good luck to him. That's why the fit is important with who we are looking to get. They're human beings with personalities and wants and desires. Clearly he was the wrong fit. It's not like NBA2k where it's just an issue of money and you give the guy 2 min a game and he will be happy with it. It's a unique kind of player willing to sign for minimal minutes, because there's really not that many minutes to go around. Given the longer rotation most players will play less minutes a game than last year to accommodate the likes of Brogdon and Gallo...some will be ok with it, others might not. Then you look to take even more away from probably the end of benchers to accommodate another player...or maybe tell that player he will sit the pine for most of the season and only play if someone is injured or it's a blowout. Not everyone will be ok with that. In an ideal situation you stack the roster and everyone will be happy...but it rarely works out that way.

As for us...back to the drawing board ???
