Not making a prediction until this is actually a series.

Celtics in 5.
Agreed

Wow.  I wish I shared your optimism we can handle BKLN in 5.  Even without Rob?

Boston wins games 2, 3, 5, 7 to win the series.  Close series, but the lack of conditioning from Durant and Irving makes the difference in the long grueling series.

I think Milwaukee beats whoever wins though on their way to back-to-back titles.

I don't think MKE is all that scary. One thing people are overlooking is Boston is just way more of a complete team 1-5 than any other in the EC.

I think Milwaukee is the Celtics' biggest challenger in the East. Only team I'm nervous about.

If the Celtics beat Milwaukee, they're gonna be in the Finals.

Yeah. Brooklyn is absolutely awful 3-9, especially compared to us, and our top 2 aren't far off theirs (and both of ours play good D!). Durant and Irving have had to play 40+ minutes every night recently to give BKN even a chance at winning. They struggled to put away Cleveland, at home, without having to deal with Jarrett Allen. CLEVELAND!

Their defence is incredibly weak, and leaves huge opportunities for exploitation. Getting Andre Drummond to try and guard in space, getting Kyrie/Mills/Curry onto our wings, getting Brown in the post, etc. I don't rate this Brooklyn team at all.

Our rotation in G5 of our series against Brooklyn was Tatum, Smart, Langford, Fournier, Tristan Thompson, PP, Parker, Grant Williams and Nesmith. This time around it will be Tatum, Brown, Smart, Horford, White, Theis, Grant, PP, and Nesmith. Ours got much better, Brooklyn's got much worse.
'23 Historical Draft: Orlando Magic.

PG: Terry Porter (90-91) / Steve Francis (00-01)

SF: Brandon Roy (08-09) / Walter Davis (78-79)
PF: Terry Cummings (84-85) / Paul Millsap (15-16)
C: Chris Webber (00-01) / Ralph Sampson (83-84) / Andrew Bogut (09-10)

I didn't mean to come off as they're not a threat, they are. I just don't believe they're on a whole other level.
If what we've seen the last half the season isn't smoke and mirrors(admit it could be as reg season wins often are) then this team has a better than avg chance to beat anyone imo.
Back to wanting Joe fired.

My bearish scenario is the Celtics going down 2-1 and then coming back to win the series in 7, but I think the Celtics can win in 6. I wanted to win out the season to maintain momentum and I’m fine with playing the Nets. I think a series win would instill new confidence in our young team that we can beat anyone, and it would mean more in battle with the Bucks than beating a weak Bulls team.

Cs in 7. On paper a better and younger team vs a more experienced team. In this case, younger may be more relevant with KD piling up long minutes game after game in a physical series.

Celtics in 5. Durant and Kyrie are going to have to fight for their buckets. Tatum, Brown, and Smart are going to gash that perimeter defense and build an interstate freeway to the rim.

Jitters will cost the Celtics one of the first two games but they will dominate after they realize they can outmuscle the Nets.

Then if Rob comes back we go on to win the championship. People still aren't recognizing how good that guy is. Once he puts the rim on lockdown we're in great shape against any opponent. He won't let us lose.

Obviously Brooklyn doesn't have Harden from last year, which is a huge loss, but 4-9 they are a lot better this year.  Each team has Brown and Claxton, but last year the rest of their rotation was Harris, Griffin, Shamet, and Tyler Johnson.  They've got Drummond, Curry, Dragic, and Edwards in the 4-9 slot this year (mills is 3).  That is a lot more depth and better overall play.  They are so much deeper in fact that Griffin and Aldridge are both unlikely to play this year while Blake was starting for them last year.

At the end of the day you don't really win or lost playoff series based on your rotation, you win it based on your top end talent and Brooklyn still does have the best player in the series along with another top 4 player (I'd have Irving behind Brown, but many people would not).

I think it is going to be a very close series with Boston just edging them out, but I also wouldn't be surprised if Durant is just an unstoppable force that carries Brooklyn to victory.

Did I miss the news that the entire Bucks starting 5 is out?

Maybe this is overconfidence but I'm thinking Celtics in 5.

Defensively, they've got Smart and White to throw at Kyrie, Tatum/Brown/Grant to throw at KD, and there's no else I'm really concerned about. Offensively, the Nets will always have at least two guys on the floor the Celtics will be able to pick on.

One thing that gives me confidence is that Tatum and Durant seem to get along really well and Tatum has the personality that when he plays his friends he likes to just embarrass them. I think he's going to have a monster series.
