Everyone knew this was a trap game

1) Marcus and Rob go a long way for us setting up a defensive tone,  we were not elite defensively

2)  Grant had a terrific game ruined by his inability to rebound when given starter minutes.  Keep us in the game with sharp shooting, keep them in the game with bad rebounding.   This is on the whole team,  too.  But 3 boards in 41 minutes isn't a enough.  The whole team stunk on the boards and we had 2 offensive rebounds the whole game.  They had 18

3)  We were missing two starters, when you lack depth this hurts.

4)   White can play but he was off shooting last night.   He did everything else to some degree

5) The Pistons wanted this one more than us.   I think it all comes down the this fact.

6)  Another bad end of game play.  No movement and a one on one shot.   If he hit it we'd all say we squeaked by, but he did not.

7)  Our guys were tired back to back and wore out and need a break.  I think mentally some of them were already on the All Star Break.  Checked out.

8)   Why didn't we draft Saddiq?  He torches us and can play.

9}   Cunningham is a good player.

I still love the team and everyone has an off night.
All good observations but lacking an important one....Tatum checked out of this game early then thought iso ball was the way to victory. You can't win when the opponent is bring it hard and you best player is stinking up the joint.

I love both Jays but when they are dogging it, you need to call it out. Neither wanted to board or put forth the same defensive effort they have been giving the team lately. And Tatum, in particular, was awful last night.

Yeah, Tatum seemed checked out early, and Brown made his share of bad plays.

The one I really didn't like is when he tried to drive to the hoop with two guys in defensive position, and got stuffed.  Normally I'm fine with guys driving the ball, but you've got to evaluate the defense and know that you've got a less than 25% chance of scoring there.

pretty solid assessment.

lack of effort on D.  Lack of focus on offense and defense.  lack of ball movement on offense.  inability to rebound on both ends.

I didn’t like that play either, but there was also no movement off the ball by his teammates.  There were mere seconds left in the game — he could have stopped his drive and looked to pass, but he would’ve been swallowed up by the defense.  Disappointing play by everyone on that possession.  Detroit had more energy yesterday, and that gap in energy won then the game.

Still, the C’s played very well the previous 7 weeks, and have earned their rest for a week.  Hopefully they come back healthy and refreshed next Thursday and start another streak.

Honestly, losing this game, when we look back, could be a good thing to happen this team.

Losing humbles you.

After we blew out the Sixers, our mindset became complacent, over-confident, knowing we were going against a bad team record wise that we had destroyed just a short while ago.

The Pistons had a great game, both in terms of hitting shots, but also moving the ball.  Cade Cunningham really impressed me, especially for a rookie. He just knows how to play. Has a great feel for when to drive, and stays under control.

I think we will come out of the All Star break on all cylinders, especially with Rob and Marcus Smart back.

If you are referring to the second to last play, when Brown got stuffed by two guys, I think that is a case of a play he should be able to make.

I actually think he should be the 1st option for end of game plays because he has to do less than Tatum to get his shot, but he still has work to do to improve his footwork and pivoting. He got stuffed because he used poor footwork and was off balance. When he's in balance and makes any kind of legit fake, he seems able to get his shot over pretty much anyone.

I thought the C's played pretty well, and only lost because they dropped the ball movement in the last two shots. The Pistons shot 16-30 from 3. The C's were missing two starters, but only lost by one. They've shown huge improvement without relying on hot shooting to win games.

We don't make ECF in 2017 without him going off in the fourth quarter of game 7 against the Wizards.  Dude has his flaws as a player but "no guts" might not be one of the first criticisms I'm going in on him with.

All good observations and yet, they STILL had a chance to win it on the last play. (Sorry I haven't read the last 10 page of this game thread, shut it off at the buzzer.)  Tatum should have driven all the way to the basket instead of trying a jumper. You know DET was going to try to avoid fouling him which would put him at the line where he would win the game for the C's.  Driving all the way just seems like a better option than a jump shot under the circumstances.

Olynyk closed Wednesday's 112-111 win over the Celtics with 15 points (5-8 FG, 3-4 3Pt, 2-2 FT), six rebounds, one assist and two steals across 17 minutes.

Right now I am so sick of Tatum, Brown and Ime.
Our politically correct coach and our two dumb superstars.

Just a lot of empty calories.
This seems to just ooze ......

Nevermind. I would probably be the one to get banned for saying it.

But everyone knows what it oozes of.

And you sir, you ooze of fear - fear to tell the truth because someone might accuse you of being a racist.
What I stated is obvious - the J's play stupid basketball most of the time until very recently ........ and Ime was hired under the cry for untested assistants who are black to get a chance at a head coaching job because supposedly they weren't ?? He has struggled.

Guess your comment had nothing to do with who you were responding to , that being me.

It will be a blessing, but ONLY if the players learn from what happened.

They still panic when the game tightens up late and they revert back to their old bad - but comfortable - habits.
Coach Ime seems to have brain-lock in these same situations. How many times do we need to end up with a bad shot on a last-minute possession because we run nothing at all - no ball movement, no off-ball screens or movement - just send everyone to the baseline to stand and watch Tatum (or Brown) go 1-on-1, often dribbling into help and a turnover or a long fadeaway.

Fear? Said the guy calling Ime "politically correct". Talk about fearing saying what you really think.

Typical. Dozens if not hundreds of years of not letting "politically correct" (srsly lol) in, not giving them the same opportunities. We give someone an opportunity to correct the scales, for once, and you're making an issue out of it when things go sideways ever so slightly.

Disgusting. Talk about fear.
