Brian Windhorst on LeBron James free agency: I think Boston would rank 30th on his list. I really honestly do. He hates Boston.

I don't expect LeBron to "decide" to take his talents to Boston.  There are several other destinations that seem to make a whole lot more sense.  But I don't buy this from Windhorst.  He is speculating based on how he thinks LeBron feels about Boston.  I don't buy that Windhorst has any idea where LeBron will go or would go, in general or specific to Boston.  This is just Windhorst being Windhorst.

Had BOS gotten Giannis, then I think LeBron to BOS was realistic.  Maybe even if they had kept Brown.  But BOS didn't get Giannis or keep Brown, they got Paul George.  At this point, I don't see it.  Makes no sense to me based on the current team.  I don't see any of Tatum, George, or LeBron playing guard.  All 3 are kind of swing Wing/PF Forwards.  I don't see the fit.

It isn?t speculation. LeBron has said how he feels about Boston. He is not coming here.

In his latest episode of The Shop, LeBron was asked about places he hates to play and mentioned Boston because Celtics fans are racist as f***.

LeBron mentioned the time someone poured a drink on him as he walked back to the locker room after a game in 2012, but he said that at this point in his career, he largely ignores the racist comments that come regardless of the city.

Nah.  I mean, the fit would actually be great.  He could play a lot more on ball here than Miami, Philly, or Cleveland.  We need at least a secondary ballhandler on the wing, if not a primary one.  But he has spent the last 18 years with Boston as one of his top rivals, if not his top depending on the year.  As someone rightly thinking about his legacy, finishing his career in a Celtics uniform just has to be too big a hurdle.

But we are favorites in the East with him.

I don't think LeBron thinks about rivalries that way even a little bit. Everything is 100% about him, and how a franchise can add to his *personal* legacy. Same way Durant had no issue joining GSW.

His goal would be to win titles in MIA, CLE, LA and BOS in this scenario, so he could say he was the guy who made it all happen.

Not that I think this is going down, but yeah, I wouldn't bet on some sort of competitive integrity holding him back.

Ehh I am not sure if that applies this time around as much. The top 4 teams with the best odds to win the title are not on his final list (OKC, SAS, NYK and BOS).

This time it seems like two teams he played for before (CLE, MIA) and then two teams with a couple Klutch represented players (GSW and PHI).

If the Celtics had the 2nd or 3rd best odds I am not sure it would have mattered really.

Items (1) and (2) would be the case for CLE also.  I expect CLE to be a better team than MIA.  So it comes down to taxes and weather?  That is what LeBron will base his decision for what is likely is last season in the NBA?  These are rhetorical questions, not directed at you specifically.  I would be surprised but I guess I shouldn't be surprised.

Maybe add to this that Giannis is a draw.  I felt that if BOS got Giannis, that LeBron would consider BOS.  Maybe he sees Giannis as the key to a title.  I don't think that is the case, at least not in MIA, but maybe LeBron does.  Or it could mean he is more concerned about his victory tour than winning a title.
