Derrick White is being traded to Boston for Josh Richardson, Romeo Langford and a first-round pick, according to Chris Haynes.
This appears to be a steal for the Celtics (assuming the first-round pick doesn't turn out to be a superstar) and while it remains to be seen if White or Marcus Smart will start, the Celtics will have a solid sixth man. A starting lineup of White/Smart, Jaylen Brown, Jayson Tatum, Al Horford and Robert Williams is formidable while White/Smart and Dennis Schroder (could be traded today) offer depth off the bench. White will take a fantasy hit with a new team and potentially new role but the Celtics got better today. Just hang onto White and Smart until we see how this plays out, although if you want to drop White to take a shot at a hot free agent it may not be the worst idea, either. White was averaging 14.4 points and 5.6 assists in San Antonio and both of those numbers are probably going to take a hit with so many other weapons in Boston.
