Bogs + Collins for Horford + Smart + #1
Get it done, lol.
Timelord / Kanter
Collins / Williams
Tatum / Richardson
Brown / Bogdanovic
Schroeder / Pritchard
That's a fun team. Too bad it's wildly unrealistic, haha.
I don’t know how unrealistic that is. When I look at who the Hawks are targeting, Smart seems to be the most realistic target and I think makes the most sense for the team. I’m sure they would love to have Horford back, too, as he’s probably the franchises most beloved player over the past couple of decades, and is still serviceable.
Factor in the fact that Collins isn’t happy with his role, and this kinda starts to make sense…however, I do agree we’d have to throw at least one more asset in that deal.
if he's not happy in Atlanta where he's pretty much the #2 guy behind Trae, why would he be happier here as no better than #3?
The unhappiness isn't because he's a #2 option. It's because he's not allowed to do anything with the ball.
On average, when Trey Young touches the ball, he has it for 6.19 seconds.
Ranking way down in 19th on the Hawks -- behind two-way players and Covid fill ins -- is John Collins, at 1.58 seconds per touch. Collins averages 0.47 dribbles per touch. Collins is actually second on the Hawks in touches, but his role is to immediately shoot or pass.
Past complaints have allegedly been about the nature of the Trae Young centered offense, rather than shot attempts.
In Boston, I think there's more opportunity to distribute the ball more evenly. All of Tatum, Brown and Smart touch the ball less than 4.0 seconds per touch, and even Grant Williams is allowed more dribbles than Collins is in Atlanta.
