Tough loss for the C’s tonight, but at least they didn’t lose to the Thunder like the Lakers just did... ;D
Quoting Nick from the now locked Ime thread:

At some point you have to blame the performance on the court on the players on the court. Every loss is not the coach's fault and every win isn't because of the players.

And the Bucks lost to the Timberwolves. It’s been a weird start to the season. All the teams that looked like tigers on paper are playing like paper tigers so far, but the season is 80+ games long. Too early for all the hand wringing go on.

How do the "refs" miss Bane taking an elbow to the head right at the ball with blood dripping on the court?
That might be because it wasn't a foul at all... It's an accident that happened in a rebounding contest

Bane had an inside position. I guess that's why guys don't box out if that's not a foul.
Just because it was your binkie doesn't make it a foul man

which game are you watching.

Yeah, when you come down on a guy's face with your elbow it's probably a flagrant, not just a common foul but it's a foul if it's inadvertent or not.

lol….but my question wasn’t rhetorical…but it sure does read like rhetoric in the context of the thread..lol

Good thing we didn't keep Bane. He's an NBA starter and our two draft picks are DNP. Bane can shoot, defend, and run the point. We could sure use a player like that.

17 points so far tonight.
You really called it on Bane.  I used to kind of shake my head at all of your Bane posts but you were right.  He looks very legit.  Nice scouting job and I'll finally give you a TP for that.

Liam wasn't the only one who wanted Bane but he was the most vocal about it.  Guess I got beat down by the flawless logic that we couldn't take Bane because we took Nesmith at 14.   ::)

I liked Bane, but I will readily admit that this wasn't the type of player I thought he could be. Talk about a steal for Memphis. They are going to be a fun team for awhile.

Cavs won again beating the Clippers in LA with their 3 big men 2 small guard lineup (basically 3 7 footers and 2 6'1" guards).  That lineup is causing all sorts of problems for opposing teams as they can't handle both their size up front and the speed of the backcourt.  Not sure how long it will work, but so far the Cavs may have something with the unique lineup.

2023 Historical Draft - Brooklyn Nets - 9th pick

Bigs - Pau, Amar'e, Issel, McGinnis, Roundfield
Wings - Dantley, Bowen, J. Jackson
Guards - Cheeks, Petrovic, Buse, Rip

The fact that he has short arms hasn't really slowed him down. That's what I heard most. That and the Nesmith thing. I think Nesmith is more of a forward and Bane a guard. A shooting Guard.

Well TP to you also then.   I remember that you liked him too.  Liam just wouldn't let it go.

Can't explain what's going on with the Cavs. They have 3 bigs in their starting lineup. I mean, Markkanen is starting at the 3 for crying out loud! They also have a 4th big playing significant minutes off the bench in Kevin Love. How on earth have they won 3 games in a row (against the Hawks, the Nuggets and the Clips)? I'm assuming it's just a fluke, cause otherwise it makes zero sense. Anybody got an explanation?

Yeah, I got in early with Bane on my two fantasy teams and it is paying dividends already.

I agree that it'd be nice to have Bane on our team, but there were several issues - even outside of the Nesmith pick (which definitely played a part in it). First, we just had too many first and second year players on the roster, as is. Danny traded the pick for two future 2nds (no, not to shed Kanter's contract as is the common misconception) and that apparently was the wrong pick to trade.

And 2nd, and most importantly, there is just no way to know that we would have actually selected Bane. Sure, we selected him, but that was only so we could trade him to MEM. It was like when we selected Lucas Noguiera in 2013 - we didn't draft him to be the next star for the Cs, it was to use in a trade for KO (haha, and not Giannis...whoops).

Also, there is just no way to know whether or not he would be playing if he was on the roster. Forget Nesmith, the guy would have Tatum, Brown, Richardson, Smart, and Langford in front on him. Perhaps he would show enough to play more minutes, but PP isn't exactly getting that love right now. And Nesmith blew it open in SL and part of pre-season and he isn't playing at all. Let's face it, Bane ended up in a perfect situation for his development. Maybe we should just be happy for him, rather than play the what-if game every couple of weeks.

I'm happy for Bane on that tough Grizzles team. Bane would be starting in place of Marcus not competing with Jaylen and Jason. My starting 5 would be Schroder, Bane, Brown, Tatum, Timelord. We didn't have room for Bane due to Wannamaker, Poirier, Semi, Green, Edwards... 4 nickles for a dollar.
