Gorgui Dieng has agreed to terms with the Atlanta Hawks in a one-year, $4M deal, league sources tell The Athletic
Nice. Good backup center for Atlanta.

G: Trae Young, Lou Will
G: Bogdanovic, Heurter
F: DeAndre Hunter, Reddish
F: John Collins, Dan Gallinari
C: Capela, Dieng

That is a strong deep team.

I do not believe it is a title contender but it's clearly ahead of the Celtics.

They might've won it this year if Tre Young didn't get hurt.

Yeah if they can resign Collins, they should be going deep into the playoffs again

The question now for the Celtics is whether they are a 40-45 win team or a 47-52 team and that will be decided by whether they fill their bench with good veterans or come back with another bench full of dodgy inexperienced prospects.

Now looky here...those "dodgy inexperienced prospects" just so happen to be "OUR dodgy inexperienced prospects."

Free agent PJ Tucker has agreed to a deal with the Heat, sources tell @TheAthletic @Stadium.
Dang, that is a nice signing.

G: Lowry, Dragic
G: (Oladipo?), Herro
F: Jimmy Butler, Duncan Robinson
F: PJ Tucker
C: Bam Adebayo

That Heat team is looking strong.

Isn’t Dragic going to the Raptors in the Lowry S&T.

Ah okay, never heard who was going the other way in that deal. So it is Kendrick Nunn as the backup PG instead of Dragic then.

Actually, Dragic is a really nice pickup Toronto.

Dragic and VanVleet can play in the same backcourt and share ball-handling duties like Lowry and VanVleet did. Dragic is a big PG and able to defend opposing SGs. VanVleet is a quick footed small defensive guard who can handle opposing PGs that cause old man Dragic problems. That is nice chemistry there. Covering one another's weaknesses and sharing strengths.

G: VanVleet
G: Dragic, G.Trent Jr
F: Anunoby, Scottie Barnes
F: Siakam
C: (nobody)

That is not a half-bad team. Fix that center position and get another PG and they are in business.

I reckon Dragic can replace most of what Lowry did for them last year. That team should function reasonably well together.

That center position killed them last year. Just no assistance. A decent center rotation and they would have been a .500 team lats season. Gotta fix that.

Otto Porter Jr is a great signing by GSW. 3+D glue guy. Versatile defensive player 6-8 and long.

Golden State stocking up on those long wings with Wiggins, Kuminga, Moody, Oubre, Porter Jr along with Draymond Green and Klay Thompson at SG-SF-PF.

Management clearly backing up their belief that you need these types of athletes & versatile defenders in order to win titles in today's NBA.

Ugh.  GSW has the right approach.

And for the Vet minimum?  We should have at least thrown $3 - $4 million at him.

I was wondering that as well. It's probably just a mistake from the BR writer (shocking!).

There were reports that he turned down the MLE from at least one other team, so it looks like GSW is just where he wanted to go.

I wouldn’t mind taking a flyer on Winslow. I’m not sure though if we can get him for the mid level exception.

I don't see that Parker was cut.  My understanding is that he is guaranteed only $100,000 as of July 31, the rest if he makes the roster.  He would be an interesting trade chip but I predict he is on the team at the start of the season.

On the list, Collins of course or related is if ATL needs to move Gallinari in order to sign Collins and also Markkanen.  At this point, we don't have all that much to offer in a sign and trade beyond Thompson.  Maybe Thompson + Smart for someone like Collins.
