Portland isn't extending the $7M qualifying offer to Zach Collins, officially making him a free agent, source tells ESPN.

Kawhi Leonard declining his player off, will become a UFA. He's expected to renegotiate his new contract with Clippers though.

Kawhi should just give it up and come to Boston instd.

Celtics have been trying to maneuver around to get Lonzo Ball.

Mentions a S&T to send Marcus Smart to New Orleans could potential be the framework.

“Senior NBA Insider Chris Hanes of Yahoo Sports reported that Lonzo Ball intends on signing a contract with the Chicago Bulls. Ahead of the 2021 NBA Trade Deadline, the Bulls reportedly pursued a trade for Ball. The team’s interest has persisted throughout the offseason, and the latest report from Hanes gives further credence to a potential union.”

I’d say he’s going to the Bulls or stay with Pelicans.

I think Lonzo would really help unlock Rob's potential in the pick and roll.    Lonzo would absolutely be perfect, both in transition and half court.  I'm starting to buy in on this idea.  I would not mind losing Smart to get this done.  We'd probably have to use some trade exceptions to buy a couple of other contracts to make it work though. Of course if Pels lose out on Lowry sweepstakes they will just match Ball offer and deal him later. Or keep him.

could be to try to get Chicago to send something significant back in return.  If they match they can trade him to who they want correct?  He can sign with Chicago but if NO matches they can move him to the team with the best offer.  What can Chicago send better then smart?  Even if NO doesn't want smart it could be a great negotiating tactic.

Most likely result:

Lowry to Miami
Lonzo signs offer sheet with Chicago
NOP matches

I like this, focusing on size and shooting.

If they match, they can't trade him for 3 months and they can't trade him to the team that signed him to the offer sheet for a year.

Right now, Chicago doesn’t have the cap space to sign him either. They need to reduce their cap space.
