Okay…

From the article:

Quote
Lillard was also in communication with Boston Celtics wing Jayson Tatum, who put off his decision on Team USA for some time after the season ended to evaluate his offseason priorities. Tatum was on the 2019 World Cup team that finished a disappointing seventh, in part because Tatum sprained his ankle in pool play.

When it was clear how the team was shaping up, Tatum's uncertainty faded and he committed, sources said.

However, Colangelo said about Tatum this week:

Quote
Jerry Colangelo on Jayson Tatum's impact for Team USA: "I think he's very important to this team. He was one of the early players who reached out to me, I mean months ago, to express his commitment and his desire to participate on the Olympic Team."

“There’s a certain amount of points you should average, depending on your position...."

Good luck getting those assist numbers up, Ime.
Is 6th in the league for small forwards not high enough?

Nope.  Positional comparison is less important.  Guys who have as much usage as Tatum obviously are going to get some assists along the way.  Yet among the top 15 players in terms of usage percentage (min 2000 minutes), Tatum ranked next to last (tied with Booker) in assists per game.  The only guy worse was Jordan Clark.  Brown, who finished just outside top 15 in usage, obviously needs to pass more too.  This is broadly acknowledged by analysts, not saying anything particularly controversial here.
Not sure that this statistical analysis really flies.

Tatum makes more passes per game than many other superstars, such as Giannis, Kevin Durant, Paul George, Bradley Beal and Donovan Mitchell, to name a few. His adjusted assist numbers (total sum of assists, free throw assists, and secondary assists) was superior to wings known for their passing like Hayward and his potential assist numbers were stronger than a number of other All-Stars.

Not seeing what your point is. Tatum is a scorer, and his passing has improved significantly every year over the last 3. What's to be concerned over?

So watching all the games last season (we both did), your take is that Tatum passes the ball plenty, and doesn't need to get his teammates more involved?
Yep, that’s totally what I said ::)

I see a player b!tching because he didn't make the All-NBA team. I see a player looking at his individual stats and is angry they weren't good enough to net an award. I don't know if that's a good or a bad thing.

As for Dame. The question asked him was who would you choose to take a last minute shot. He named two guys....Lillard and Kyrie. Does that mean there's fire about Kyrie coming back too?

Jayson Tatum does have a valid point.  There are literally players with worse stats than Tatum and started fewer games last year that still got the All-NBA nod ahead of him.  The fact is, by and large, there's no respect out there by the media for Tatum.  And this after he scored 50 points in 4 separate games last year, 2 in the regular season, 1 in the play in, and 1 in the playoff series against the Nets where we were clearly overmatched but he scored like a Madman to get us our only win of the series.

What's the big reason why Tatum doesn't deserve at least 3rd team All-NBA based on what he accomplished last year?

I see him being authentic and real. He just “lost” $32m from a suspect voting process. He even made the comment loook I make insane amounts of money...

I don't see an issue with his comments either. I keep trying to nitpick it the way other posters are but all I take from it is "I wish there was a more established criteria and not opinion based, but I'm not mad about the money. No one is crying over me or Donovan losing money," and I genuinely don't see anything wrong with that.

I don't see anything to complain about with any of his comments (other than, yeah, it would've been nice to hear him shout out Jaylen there). Especially where he got more votes than Kyrie but Kyrie made the 3rd team for positional reasons that I don't even really understand.

Hopefully, he's looking at Julius Randle and understands that if the Celtics had been the 4th seed Tatum probably makes one of those teams. If he wants those accolades, they come to players whose teams win games.

People keep mentioning Jaylen. Can Jayson breath without needing to include Jaylen? It's starting to take on a weird little brother dynamic where their parents are forcing him to take him everywhere he goes.

And I don't think Tatum needs to look to Randle. Jayson has been apart of more winning seasons and playoff basketball in his 4 year career than Randle has in 7 years.

That is why Brown needs to go…Celtics have a leadership problem.

Jayson Tatum makes a few (selfish) comments, so it's time to trade Brown??

Say what??

Yeah lol that was just dumb.

Anyway tegarding tatum. Im fine with tatum missing the team if it was straightforward but from my understanding is he lost out due to technicalities with how the votes and winners are used. They should eliminate voting based on position esp if someone qualifies for different position.
