Jaylen showing Kyrie the classy way to do it. Nice response from him.
Genuine intelligence vs self-serving snake-oil salesman

This is 100% a reason to keep him as a Celtic.

Absolutely love this human being. What a gent.

Spot on.

I said this a couple of years ago, but I suspect the reason Kyrie and Jaylen were rumoured to have not got on when Kyrie was in Boston was that Kyrie was intimidated by Jaylen's actual intelligence and that he saw through the pseudo intellectual act Kyrie puts on.

I'm pretty sure we've all faked something in our lives at some point or another and there's nothing worse than, when you do, that feeling you get about someone and suspect "they're on to me".

Yeh look, I don't think I'd really get along with a flat earther either :')

Like, legit. Sorry, but, just, that'd be difficult.

Same. This'll sound conceited, but so be it. I am actually relatively intelligent by most measures and it's always amused me to see someone trying to come off as smarter than they are and be exposed. It's illustrated brilliantly in Good Will Hunting with that scene at the bar.

Minor point, wonder how Kyrie liked tonight's apples, and whether he thinks apples are also flat?

I myself am an idiot.

Still, flat earth ... come on. You've flown in a plane.

I know this isn't a trade proposal thread but this is just as relevant here:

#JKJB

Just keep Jaylen Brown

He is everything you want your star player to be.

If that was 5k people, really looking forward to 17k people
The boos are gonna be ear-shattering. My sister is going to be a game 4 and I'm super jealous lol.

I hope the 17k fans give Kyrie hell. Make it as hostile as LeBron James' first homecoming to Cleveland.

Also boo Durant the snake. Idc about Harden or anyone else haha.

He really is. He's an amazing two-player. If you can get back Luka Doncic you trade him but other than that....

I’d trade Brown and anyone not named Jayson for Luka, but we all know no team could pry him away from Dallas for ANY package.

That said, I’d give the J&J experiment one more season and then seriously reevaluate it. If they don’t become better leaders (on the floor) and compliment each other’s games, they need to be broken up. Kemba would be the easy fix but that’s not happening, probably not even as an expiring. Jayson and Jaylen are both terrific players. But neither make their teammates especially better.

Yes but how many 23 YO guys were doing that ? Tou can count them with the fingers of one hand... In history. For me it is what there is around them that must do better in playmaking, team defense and some extra scoring. Ant that hey are boh healthy.

Perfect response from Jaylen. Don't let this nonsense be a distraction from the real problems of systemic racism.

I think this racist talk about Boston is a bunch of media crap--probably started in NY or LA where Celtics hate runs deep.

Boston, of course, is no different than any other American city. Actually, it's a liberal Democrat town (the Irish mayor is now working for Biden). Sure there are pockets of conservative working class types, but every city has those.

The Celtics broke the racial barriers in the NBA. First drafting an African American, then having an all-African American starting 5 (Can you name them?), and finally having the first African American coach, Bill Russell, in a major sport.

You have to be careful about interpreting all the race stuff.  Keep in mind the Celtics dominated the NBA so long in the 50s and 60s, winning about a dozen championships in a row, that they built up a lot of resentment in other cities, especially NY and LA, and also Philly. The Philly sports media is pretty hostile to Boston teams as well. The Patriots, by the way, have been getting the same treatment lately, from the same sources (primarily NY, ESPN, etc). They have also just won too much.

Jaylen Brown? He's just a kid. A smart kid, but he doesn't know the history.

Wow,

'' sure there are pockets of working class conservatives but every city has those''

In discussing race? Might want to think about how that sounds.

I think there's a difference between challenging Kyrie for changing his tune in regards to this so that he can try and gain an advantage in a series, and dismissing an entire dialogue on race in Boston as other people being jealous of success.

There's a middle point.

I'm also fairly sure JB is aware of Celtic history

I only one thing to say about Kyrie.

Never played as hard as he has played for Brooklyn, when he was a Celtic.  He is a front runner.  Glad he is gone.

So a fan throws a water bottle ... which shouldnt have been done... but Kyrie somehow ties that with racism?

#Nets guard Kyrie Irving postgame.

"It's unfortunate that sports has come to this kind of crossroads. Just underlying racism and just treating people like they're in a human zoo. Throwing things at them.  At a certain point it just becomes too much."

Ja Morant was an actual target of racism and somehow made it less about race than Kyrie Irving. Astounding.
