I will start by saying I'm surprised that Ainge made a move, I thought he would stay put as none of the moves really put us over the hump in terms of talent upgrades. They are more incremental moves to make us a bit better but not significantly better. That said, I'm ok with getting Fournier. He won't average 20 ppg with us but that's ok, we just need him to be a solid consistent per-36 scorer with the minutes and usage he will get with us. It should take some pressure off Kemba, and Smart (hopefully) won't (shouldn't) feel the need to be a hero as often as he does. Fournier will be an upgrade over everyone on our bench. I guess the question became, who could we get this summer that isn't already available now, that wouldn't require us to shed salary anyway? I could be wrong but I think we're at the tax apron already this summer even before using the TPE on sign and trades because of JT's supermax.
Shipping Theis to Chicago sucks as I love Theis' work ethic, he's definitely exceeded expectations during his time here, remember he was initially signed for like $1m? He's a hard worker and did all the dirty work that nobody notices, setting screens, boxing out, etc. But I think Danny and Brad are confident enough that Timelord playing more minutes will be an upgrade over Theis in everything at least from a physical standpoint. He doesn't have Theis's range from 3 as of yet or his BBIQ. Let's hope Rob's BBIQ catches up to Daniel's eventually as if it does he will be a very solid player. But I think Theis will be a loss at least initially. Not in the way most fans will notice but his teammates will definitely notice his absence. Wagner I think is more of a long term project.
As for Teague, clearly they feel that Pritchard's the guy that can fill that backup PG role. They didn't know that at the time Teague was initially signed so he's become redundant.
